The Texans have traded quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to the Jets in exchange for a late conditional draft pick, reports Adam Schefter of ESPN on Wednesday.

Fitzpatrick, 32, has ties to Jets offensive coordinator Chan Gailey. He played under Gailey for three seasons with the Bills (2010-2012). He went 16-29 as a starter with 71 touchdowns and 67 turnovers under Gailey in Buffalo.

Fitzpatrick passed for 2,483 yards with 17 touchdowns and eight interceptions last season. He will compete with Geno Smith for the starting job.
