With Brian De La Puente having signed with the Bears, the Saints will have a competition at center this summer, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune. The current contenders are second-year guard Tim Lelito and rookie Matt Armstrong, both of whom played at Division II Grand Valley State.
"I think for us with two veteran guards in Ben (Grubbs) and Jahri (Evans) it is going to make it easier for a center," general manager Mickey Loomis told the paper. "With a quarterback like Drew (Brees), who does a lot of the identifications and makes a lot of the calls, that makes it easier, so it definitely makes it possible, probably a little easier with our team than some others."
