With the emergence of rookie wide receiver Odell Beckham in Week 5, who was playing for the first time after missing the first four games with hamstring injury, Giants tight end Larry Donnell seemed to be the odd man out, getting only one target in the contest.
And that was just a week after scoring three touchdowns.
So does that mean his days are numbered as a quality Fantasy option? Here's a better question: Does it matter for Week 6 at Philadelphia?
Jimmy Graham and Travis Kelce are both on bye, which reduces the number of Fantasy-relevant tight ends by two. Dwayne Allen is quickly getting scooped up in leagues, Niles Paul has to watch out for Jordan Reed, and Timothy Wright is still largely unproven. Oh, and Jason Witten is facing the Seahawks. That's never good.
So if not Donnell, who else? It's not a terrible matchup. The Eagles haven't been especially bad against tight ends but have allowed the most Fantasy points per game to wide receivers and have struggled against the pass overall. The Falcons may have been especially focused on Donnell after his three-touchdown game while the Eagles may be looking to stop Beckham instead. Who's to say?
But I think benching Donnell after one bad game would be a panic move in Fantasy, especially given the lack of alternatives for this week.
