Fifth-round pick Avery Williamson has cut into the snaps of veteran inside linebacker Zaviar Gooden for the Titans, The Tennessean has reported.
The rookie did not play on defense until Week 3, but he made four tackles in 13 snaps against Cincinnati. He was on the field for 26 snaps last week against Indianapolis and made nine tackles. He has been playing with the first team this week in practice.
"(Williams is) doing a nice job," Ken Whisenhunt said. "He has to learn his assignments ... and he has to be able to execute them consistently. It's a process that all your young players go through. Everyone wants to throw young players out there, but sometimes they're not ready yet."
