Avery Williamson: Signs with practice squad
Williamson signed with the Broncos' practice squad Tuesday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
Williamson was with Denver earlier this season before a stint with Tennessee that saw its end when he was released on Nov. 2. Williamson will try to make his way to the active roster, as the Broncos are dealing with multiple injuries to their linebacker unit.

After being traded to the Steelers in November, Williamson will have the opportunity to start at inside linebacker because of the knee injury Spillane suffered Monday. The veteran had essentially been insurance for the Steelers' linebacking corps, recording just three tackles with the Steelers prior to Monday, but if the loss against Washington is any indication, expect Williamson to be a worthy IDP option as the full-time starter (nine tackles).

Williamson had his roster exemption lifted Saturday, and he's officially on the Steelers' 53-man roster, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports.
The Steelers traded for Williamson earlier in the week, and he's passed the necessary COVID-19 protocols to join the team for Sunday's game versus the Cowboys. Williamson handled a starting role with the Jets this year, as he posted 59 tackles, three pass breakups and an interception through seven games. However, the veteran is expected to serve as an inside linebacker Robert Spillane's backup in Pittsburgh.

Williamson is expected to serve as the backup to Robert Spillane after being acquired by the Steelers on Sunday, Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Williamson recorded nine tackles Sunday afternoon for the Jets against the Chiefs and was shipped to the Steelers by the end of the day. The 28-year-old totaled 59 tackles through seven games this season, but he'll be filling a reserve role for his new team. He may not be available for Week 9 since he won't be allowed to join the team until Saturday due to the COVID-19 restrictions when heading to a new team.

Williamson was traded to the Steelers on Sunday along with a 2022 seventh-round pick for Pittsburgh's 2022 fifth-rounder, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Williamson goes from the only winless team in the league to the lone undefeated team. Once he gets acclimated to his new surroundings, Williamson figures to slide into a starting inside linebacker role for the Steelers. Williamson has 24 tackles in the last two games. New York's defense will likely spend the majority of the game on the field in Week 8 against the Chiefs, which should give the veteran inside linebacker plenty of opportunities to pad his tackle total.
