Vikings WR Percy Harvin, with his left ankle taped and helmet in hand, limped onto the practice field on Friday morning. He stretched out with his fellow wide receivers and then immediately left the practice field with head athletic trainer Eric Sugarman by his side. After practice, coach Leslie Frazier addressed Harvin’s status for the game against the Bears on Sunday.
“Percy gave it a try in pre-practice,” Frazier said. “Really couldn’t put a lot of weight on the ankle at this point. He is going to be listed as doubtful for this ball game.”
If Harvin can’t go, WR Jarius Wright will be active for the second game in a row. Wright, who caught three passes for 65 yards and touchdown in place of Harvin against the Lions, has earned the opportunity, regardless, said Frazier.
“He showed that he’s ready to get in some game-action, so we are going to have him up for sure,” Frazier said.
Bears’ home-field advantage? Soldier Field in Chicago is notorious for its poor field conditions around this time of the year, and this season is no different. While it is an adjustment for visiting players, there were some reports of the Bears players complaining about it this season.
WR Devin Aromashodu played in Chicago for three seasons and he isn’t worried about it.
“I didn’t like it, it could have been better than it was,” Aromashodu said of the field during his time playing there. “But it’s a city field. There are a lot of things that go on there.”
Aromashodu said the field doesn’t provide a huge advantage for the home team.
“It’s tough, but it is something both teams have to play on,” he said. “The only thing as a Bear, you had experienced it, so you knew what to expect.”
Injury report: LG Charlie Johnson, who injured his toe at home during the bye week, returned to practice.
“He was able to get out and do some work,” said Frazier. “He should be fine for this ball game.”
Johnson and DT Letroy Guion were listed as questionable. Frazier said OL Joe Berger would step in at left guard if Johnson can’t go. The team gave G/T Mark Asper more work this week in case Guion is out.
WR Michael Jenkins (foot), CB Antoine Winfield (knee), DE Jared Allen (shoulder), WR Stephen Burton (ankle), P/H Chris Kluwe (left foot) and RB Adrian Peterson (ankle) were all listed as probable.
