Lions' Matthew Mulligan: Stifled by Seahawks D
Mulligan caught his only target for minus-two yards during Saturday's playoff game against the Seahawks.
Mulligan's catch resulted in a failed fourth-down conversion attempt and perfectly encapsulates the disappointing performance of Detroit's entire receiving corps. Signed in November after failing to survive final cuts out of training camp, Mulligan finished the regular season with just one catch for eight yards across eight games. As he's almost exclusively deployed as an in-line blocking tight end, Mulligan is highly unlikely to attain fantasy relevance all of a sudden in 2017.

Lions' Matthew Mulligan: Re-signs with Lions
Mulligan was re-signed by the Lions on Tuesday, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports.
Mulligan was surprisingly cut by the Lions right before the beginning of the regular season but was brought back after Cole Wick (knee) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday. At this point, he will likely serve as a reserve tight end, currently sitting behind the likes of Eric Ebron, Khari Lee, and Clay Harbor on the depth chart.

Matthew Mulligan: Released by Lions Monday
Mulligan was released by the Lions on Monday, The Detroit News reports.
This move comes as a bit of a head-scratcher since Mulligan appeared to be Detroit's top in-line tight end with Brandon Pettigrew (knee) still residing on the team's PUP list. However, this could alternatively be seen as a vote of confidence from GM Bob Quinn regarding the status of Pettigrew's recovery and subsequent chance of starting Week 1. Nonethless, Mulligan's release especially bodes well for both Cole Wick's and Andrew Quarless' odds of cracking the final 53-man roster.

Lions' Matthew Mulligan: Absent from practice Tuesday
Mulligan (undisclosed) did not practice Tuesday, MLive.com's Kyle Meinke reports.
The nature of Mulligan's injury is unclear, but he is not expected to be dealing with anything long-term. Mulligan had been serving as Detroit's primary blocking tight end while Brandon Pettigrew (knee) resided on the PUP list to begin training camp, and was tabbed as the team's No. 2 tight end behind Eric Ebron (leg) on the first unofficial depth chart of the preseason. Now, with Ebron currently sidelined as well, the Lions will be without their top-three overall tight ends for the foreseeable future.

Lions' Matthew Mulligan: Signs with Detroit
The Lions have signed Mulligan, the Detroit Free Press reports.
Mulligan gives the Lions some added tight end depth, with Brandon Pettigrew still recovering from a torn ACL. Once Pettigrew recovers from his injury, look for Mulligan to compete with Tim Wright for the Lions' No. 3 tight end job behind presumed starter Eric Ebron and Pettigrew.

Bills' Matthew Mulligan: Released on Tuesday
Mulligan was released by the Bills on Tuesday, WKBW's Joe Buscaglia reports.
Mulligan, a 30-year-old blocking specialist, has just 17 catches in 81 career games. For the corresponding transaction, fellow tight end Nick O'Leary was promoted from the practice squad.
