  • Nick Perry: Visiting Pacific Northwest

Perry will take a free-agent visit to Seattle some time this week, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports.

Perry had spent the past seven seasons in Green Bay but was cut this offseason by the team to make room for other acquisitions. The USC product has has never played a full 16-game season in his career but seems to be fully healthy this offseason. The Seahawks could add Perry to their linebacker corps, as the team awaits the fate of Mychal Kendricks (lower leg), who could face jail time after pleading guilty to insider trading.

  • Nick Perry: Sheds injury designation

Perry was released by the Packers without any injury stipulation on Tuesday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.

Perry's lack of an injury tag upon release means that he was able to pass a physical, and thereby given received medical clearance. A clean bill of health will be beneficial to Perry as he enters the open market, but he's proven to carry an injury risk alongside his upside. The 28-year-old linebacker ended last season on injured reserve due to ankle and knee issues, and has yet to suit up for a full 16-game season through his seven years in the NFL.

  • Nick Perry: Cut after being replaced

The Packers are releasing Perry (knee), Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports.

Already in danger of being cut, Perry's fate was sealed Tuesday morning when the Packers reached agreements to sign fellow outside linebackers Za'Darius Smith and Preston Smith. Despite notching just 1.5 sacks in nine games this past season, Perry shouldn't have too much trouble drumming up interest on the open market, considering he had 18 sacks in 26 games the previous two years. It helps that he won't factor into the formula for compensatory draft picks -- something that only applies to players that had their contracts expire.

  • Packers' Nick Perry: Uncertain to remain in Green Bay

Perry (knee) is a candidate to be released this offseason, Rob Demovsky of ESPN reports.

Yet to endure a full 16-game season through seven years in the league, Perry has proven to be a high injury risk -- and one that doesn't come cheap relative to his meager production, considering Perry's cap charge is almost $15 million in 2019. Green Bay will only save about $3 million against the cap by letting him go prior to the third day of the league year in March -- when the Packers owe the linebacker a $4.8 million roster bonus -- but the savings jumps to roughly $7 and $10 million in 2020 and 2021, respectively.
