Marcell Dareus: Becomes free agent
The Jaguars have declined to pick up the 2020 option for Dareus (abdomen), making him a free agent, John Reid of The Florida Times-Union reports.
By letting Dareus go, the Jaguars will save $20 million against the salary cap in 2020. Dareus ended the 2019 season on injured reserve after undergoing core muscle surgery in October. He finished the year with 13 tackles and 0.5 sacks through six games. The timeline to return from his surgery was 4-to-6 weeks, so he should be ready to sign with a new team immediately.

Jaguars' Marcell Dareus: Finishes season on IR
Dareus (abdomen) spent the final 10 weeks of the season on injured reserve and finished 2019 with 13 tackles (eight solo) and a half-sack in six games.
Dareus underwent core muscle surgery Oct. 24 and was expected to face a 4-to-6 week recovery timeline, but he never returned from injured reserve. The 29-year-old has a $9.5 million club option for 2020 and could theoretically remain in Jacksonville, but the option carries a $22.5 million cap figure, meaning the team is likely to decline the option and take a $2.5 million dead cap hit instead.

Jaguars' Marcell Dareus: Lands on injured reserve
Dareus (abdomen) was placed on injured reserve Friday.
Dareus underwent core muscle surgery Thursday and was expected to be sidelined 4-to-6 weeks, but the move to IR gives him at least eight weeks of recovery time. The 29-year-old could be designated to return for the final couple weeks of the season, assuming his recovery goes as planned. Taven Bryan lines up to take over his starting role, while the Jaguars signed Akeem Spence to bolster their depth on the defensive line.

Jaguars' Marcell Dareus: Scheduled for surgery
Dareus will undergo core muscle surgery on Thursday, John Reid of The Florida Times-Union reports.
It's a tough blow for the Jaguars defense, as Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported earlier in the week that undergoing core muscle surgery would leave Dareus out for 4-to-6 weeks. Taven Bryan is in line to see an expanded role at tackle in the absence of Dareus.

Jaguars' Marcell Dareus: Set for limited practice
Dareus (abdomen) will practice in a limited capacity Wednesday, Michael DiRocco of ESPN reports.
Dareus was injured during Sunday's win over the Bengals and returned to the game, but the injury could be more serious. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Dareus will be checked out by a specialist in Philadelphia, who will determine if he needs surgery. If surgery is necessary, Dareus will miss four to six weeks. Taven Bryan and Dontavius Russell are waiting in the wings in case Dareus misses any time.
