Brooks was released by the Texans on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
Brooks signed a one-year deal with the Texans in March, but the team has decided to move on from him ahead of the 2022 season. The safety played in 11 games with the Texans last year, making 21 tackles and deflecting a pass. The veteran will likely get picked up by another squad in need of depth in their secondary.

Texans' Terrence Brooks: Gets one-year deal
Brooks signed a one-year deal worth $2 million to re-sign with the Texans on Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Brooks was a significant contributor on special teams in his first season in Houston, collecting 21 total tackles in 2021. He should serve a similar role while also providing depth in the team's secondary this year.

Texans' Terrence Brooks: Returns from COVID list
Brooks was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Saturday, Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports.
Brooks has missed the Texans' last three games, two because of a hamstring injury and one due to being on the COVID list. Now healthy, Brooks should return to his depth role in the Texans' secondary when they take on the Chargers on Sunday.

Brooks has missed each of Houston's last two games with a hamstring injury.
