Pick To Win NFC Divisional Round: Rams at Bears

Top Ka'Deem Carey News

  • Ka'Deem Carey: Waived from injured reserve

The Bears waived Carey (wrist) on Friday after both parties came to terms on an injury settlement, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Carey underwent wrist surgery in mid-August, which was expected to keep him sidelined for six weeks. He was going to be forced to sit on the Bears' IR for the remainder of the season if both sides could not come to terms on a settlement. The running back will now be free to find a new opportunity once his health allows it.

  • Bears' Ka'Deem Carey: Hits injured reserve

Carey (wrist) was placed on injured reserve by the Bears on Saturday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.

The move isn't exactly surprising after Carey underwent surgery on his wrist in late August. The 25-year-old was expected to miss about six weeks and is not eligible to return from IR, since he didn't officially make the 53-man roster.

  • Bears' Ka'Deem Carey: Undergoes wrist surgery

Carey underwent wrist surgery and is expected to miss about six weeks, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Carey was assumed to be in a battle for a roster spot with Jeremy Langford going into the preseason, and this injury won't help Carey's chances to win the job. Even if he makes the team, Carey is expected to be buried on the depth chart behind Jordan Howard (eye), Tarik Cohen and Bennie Cunningham, so his fantasy value is quite limited.

  • Bears' Ka'Deem Carey: Rushes for seven yards in Saturday win

Carey rushed six times for seven yards while catching both of his targets for an additional 13 yards Saturday against the Cardinals.

Carey saw playing time with both the starters and backups, but he averaged just 1.2 yards per carry. His biggest play of the game was when he caught a screen pass and turned it into an 18-yard gain. The veteran appears to be in a battle for a roster spot, and his performance over the next two weeks ultimately will decide his fate with the team.

  • Bears' Ka'Deem Carey: Expected to play Saturday

Carey (thigh) is expected to play in Saturday's preseason game in Arizona.

Carey suffered some sort of thigh injury in the preseason opener against the Broncos and subsequently missed out on some practice time this week. However, it seems he's good to go, so Carey should serve as the No. 2 runner Saturday with Jordan Howard (eye) and Jeremy Langford (ankle) on the shelf.

  • Bears' Ka'Deem Carey: Sitting out Saturday

    Carey (thigh) didn't practice Saturday.

Carey went down with some sort of thigh injury during Thursday's preseason opener against the Broncos and wasn't able to return to the game. His timetable for a return isn't clear.

  • Bears' Ka'Deem Carey: Will not return Thursday

Carey (quad) will not return for Thursday's preseason game against the Broncos.

Entering his fourth year in Chicago, Carey has never surpassed 160 rushing yards. He's currently in line to be the fourth string in Chicago, and this injury could hinder his chances of moving up.

  • Bears' Ka'Deem Carey: Possibly fighting for roster spot

Carey could be battling Jeremy Langford for a roster spot during training camp, Jeff Dickerson of ESPN.com reports.

Carey was deactivated for the final two games of 2016, so the writing could be on the wall, especially after the team brought in Benny Cunningham and Tarik Cohen during the offseason. That said, Carey ran for 3.9 yards per carry, opposed to 3.2 yards per tote for Langford, so Carey was better as a runner. Regardless, he'll not only need to beat out Langford, but he'll also need to move ahead of Cunningham and Cohen to have much fantasy relevance behind Jordan Howard.
