Texans' Hassan Ridgeway: Heads to IR
Ridgeway (Achilles) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
The 29-year-old defensive tackle suffered a torn right Achilles during the Texans' Week 9 win over the Buccaneers, so it's no surprise that he's been placed on IR. Ridgeway appeared in only three games this year, recording six total tackles. Kurt Hinish is expected to see more work on the Texans' defensive line with Ridgeway missing the remainder of the season.

Texans' Hassan Ridgeway: Out for season with Achilles tear
Ridgeway tore his right Achilles in Sunday's Week 9 win over Tampa Bay and won't return this season, Aaron Wilson of click2houston.com reports.
Ridgeway missed five games earlier this season with a calf injury before being activated ahead of Week 8. He was filling for usual starter Sheldon Rankins (knee) at defensive tackle this past Sunday but left the game early in the second half with what has now been confirmed as an Achilles tear. Ridgeway will consequently undergo season-ending surgery and head to injured reserve. Meanwhile, Rankins could return to face Cincinnati in Week 10, but if he's unable to go, Kurt Hinish would likely step into his role.

Texans' Hassan Ridgeway: Will not return
Ridgeway (ankle) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Buccaneers.
Ridgeway had difficulty putting weight on his right leg when he exited early in the second half. He had been seeing extra work with Sheldon Rankins (knee) inactive; however, now Kurt Hinish should see the bulk of reserve snaps at defensive tackle.

Ridgeway suffered an ankle injury during Sunday's game against the Buccaneers and is questionable to return.
The defensive tackle left the field after the first play of the second half and had trouble putting weight on his right leg, per Adam Wexler of SportsTalk 790 in Houston. Ridgeway had been filling in for Sheldon Rankins, who missed Sunday's game with a knee injury. Their absences may open up playing time for third-stringer Kurt Hinish.

Ridgeway (calf) was designated to return from injured reserve and was a limited participant at the Texans' practice Wednesday.
Ridgeway has been unavailable since Sept. 13 after he suffered a calf injury in Week 1 versus the Ravens. The defensive tackle will now have a 21-day window to return to the active roster or he'll remain on IR until the end of the season. His ability to practice Wednesday bodes well for his chances to play sooner rather than later.

Ridgeway will miss at least four games as a result of this move, so his earliest return date will be Week 6 against the Saints. Ridgeway was dealing with a hamstring issue at the beginning of OTAs, but he appears to have put the issue behind him. The 2016 fourth-round pick signed a deal with Houston this offseason after recording 28 tackles and a sack across 12 appearances for the 49ers in 2022.
