  • Kenyan Drake: Announces retirement

Drake announced Friday that he is retiring from the NFL, Josina Anderson of CBS Sports reports.

Drake said "I love the game, but I don't love the business. I'm at peace with the decision. I'm healthy and ready to start the next chapter of my life." The 30-year-old running back logged regular-season appearances for the Dolphins, Cardinals, Raiders, Ravens and Packers and also spent time with the Colts and Browns across his eight-year career. He compiled a total of 3,866 rushing yards (4.4 YPC), including a 2020 season with Arizona in which he rushed for 955 yards and 10 scores on 239 attempts, but Drake may be best remembered his 52-yard run for a touchdown on a lateral from DeVante Parker in 2018's "Miracle in Miami."

  • Kenyan Drake: Cut by Green Bay

The Packers cut Drake from their practice squad Friday.

Drake appeared in just one game for the Packers since signing with their practice squad in early December, carrying the ball once for zero yards on five total snaps (all offensive). In a corresponding move, Green Bay signed cornerback David Long to its practice squad.

  • Kenyan Drake: Back to practice squad

Drake reverted to the Packers' practice squad Monday.

Drake played five offensive snaps in Sunday's 34-20 loss to the Buccaneers, rushing for no gain on his only carry. With AJ Dillon (thumb) potentially unavailable again in Week 16 versus the Panthers, Drake could be asked to return to the active roster.

  • Packers' Kenyan Drake: Gets first carry with Green Bay

Drake had one carry for zero yards in Sunday's 34-20 loss to the Buccaneers.

Drake recorded his first carry since signing with Green Bay, but it went nowhere, and he was on the field for less than a handful of other plays. He remains an intriguing backfield option for the Packers, but not much else as things stand.

  • Packers' Kenyan Drake: Elevated from practice squad again

The Packers elevated Drake from their practice squad Saturday ahead of Sunday's contest versus Tampa Bay.

This is the second straight week that Drake has been elevated ahead of game day. Last week, he wasn't given the opportunity to log an offensive snap despite Aaron Jones (knee) being unable to play. Jones is questionable again for Sunday, as is AJ Dillon (thumb) -- if both running backs are held out against the Buccaneers, Drake could be in line for a fair amount of work, but he could again be stuck mostly on the sidelines if Jones and/or Dillon suit up.

  • Kenyan Drake: Back to practice squad

Drake reverted to the Packers' practice squad Tuesday, per the NFL's official transaction log.

Drake received an opportunity with the active roster for Monday's loss to the Giants with Aaron Jones still nursing a knee injury. However, the veteran running back never saw a snap and remained on the sidelines throughout the contest. If Jones remains out Sunday against the Buccaneers, Drake will be a likely candidate to earn another opportunity with the active roster.

  • Packers' Kenyan Drake: Elevated for MNF

Drake was elevated from Green Bay's practice squad ahead of Monday's game against the Giants, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.

With Aaron Jones (knee) expected to sit out, Drake will provide running back depth in a backfield that includes AJ Dillon and Patrick Taylor. Dillon has generally handled the majority of backfield touches in previous instances when Jones -- who is officially listed as questionable Monday -- has been unavailable.

  • Kenyan Drake: Joins Packers' practice squad

The Packers signed Drake to their practice squad Tuesday.

In a corresponding move, Green Bay cut fellow running back James Robinson from the practice squad. Drake may take a week or two to acclimate himself to a new offense, but he'll provide depth to a backfield that currently is without Aaron Jones, who has missed the past two games due to an MCL sprain. On the season, Drake has three touches for 31 yards from scrimmage in two games for the Ravens.
