Jack Doyle: Ends playing career
Doyle announced his retirement from the NFL on Monday.
Doyle, who entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2013, finished the 2021 campaign with 29 catches (on 43 targets) for 302 yards and three touchdowns in 17 games. With the 31-year-old no longer in the mix and Mo Alie-Cox eligible to become an unrestricted free agent, the composition of the Colts' tight-end corps this coming season remains to be determined. Kylen Granson -- a 2021 fourth-round pick -- profiles as the team's top option at the position currently under contract for 2022.

Colts' Jack Doyle: Considering retirement
Doyle will take some time this offseason to weigh retirement after catching one of two passes for 11 yards in Sunday's season-ending loss to the Jaguars, George Bremer of The Anderson Herald Bulletin reports.
The 31-year-old is under contract for $5.45 million in 2022 but is considering hanging up his cleats following his ninth NFL campaign. Doyle finished 2021 with 29 receptions for 302 yards and three touchdowns while splitting snaps at tight end with Mo Alie-Cox and Kylen Granson.

Colts' Jack Doyle: No injury designation for Sunday
Doyle (knee) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.
Doyle was absent from the injury report Wednesday before practicing in a limited fashion Thursday, but he was able to close out the week with no limitations. The 31-year-old has only one reception in three games since the Colts' Week 14 bye, so he doesn't offer much fantasy upside as he continues to split snaps with Mo Alie-Cox and Kylen Granson at tight end.

Colts' Jack Doyle: Limited session Thursday
Doyle (knee) was limited at practice Thursday.
Doyle practiced fully Wednesday, so it remains to be seen if the tight end's limitations were maintenance-related or indicative of an in-practice setback. Friday's injury report will determine whether or not Doyle approaches Sunday's regular-season finale with an injury designation.

Colts' Jack Doyle: Cleared for Week 17
Doyle (ankle/knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Raiders.
Though Doyle was listed as questionable heading into Sunday, he didn't look to be at major risk of sitting out after he upgraded to full participation in practice Friday. As per usual, Doyle is expected to serve as the lead option of a three-man tight-end committee that includes Mo Alie-Cox and Kylen Granson. Before exiting last week's win over the Cardinals in the first quarter, Doyle had played at least 54 percent of the Colts' offensive snaps in each of the team's first 14 games, averaging 2.9 targets per contest.

Colts' Jack Doyle: Taking questionable tag into Sunday
Doyle (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Raiders.
Though Doyle participated fully in Friday's practice, his absences from workouts Wednesday and Thursday might have been reason enough for the Colts to give him a designation heading into the weekend. Provided Doyle didn't experience any setbacks with his ankle during Friday's practice, he's a good bet to avoid the inactive list Sunday and serve as the No. 1 option in the Colts' three-man tight end committee. After Doyle played just two snaps before exiting last week's win over the Cardinals due the ankle injury, Mo-Alie Cox (90 percent snap share) saw the bulk of the work at tight end while rookie Kylen Granson (44 percent) was a distant second in playing time for the position group.
