Commanders' Tress Way: Signs extension with Washington
The Commanders signed Way to a one-year extension Tuesday, Ben Standig of Big 100 Washington D.C. reports.
Way will remain in Washington for the 2026 campaign, where he has spent the entirety of his 12-year career. The 35-year-old punted 56 times for 2,651 yards in 2025 and had 29 punts downed inside the 20-yard line.

Commanders' Tress Way: Good to go vs. Green Bay

Commanders' Tress Way: Limited Tuesday, likely okay for TNF
Way (back) was estimated as a limited participant in practice Tuesday, though Washington head coach Dan Quinn implied the punter will be available to play Thursday against Green Bay, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Way hurt his back in Sunday's Week 1 win over the Giants and was estimated as DNP on Monday. His upgrade to an estimation of limited Tuesday suggests that the veteran punter is trending in the right direction, as does Quinn's seeming confidence in Way's ability to suit up Thursday. Still, Washington worked out a pair of free-agent punters (Eddie Czaplicki and Mitch Wishnowsky) on Tuesday, so Way may not be fully in the clear.

Way is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Giants due to a back injury, Zach Selby of the Commanders' official site reports.
Way may have suffered the injury after hitting the ground back-first on a punt that was partially blocked by Abdul Carter. Way will undergo further testing to determine the severity of the injury, and it could impact his availability for the Commanders' next game against the Packers on Thursday, even if he returns late Sunday.
