  • 49ers' Kendrick Bourne: Solid return to SF in 2025

Bourne finished the regular season with 37 receptions for 551 yards across 16 games played with the 49ers.

The veteran wideout returned to the club that he began his career with as an undrafted free agent back in 2017. Bourne was brought in to help fill the void left by injured starters Brandon Aiyuk and Ricky Pearsall to begin the year. The 29-year-old Bourne was successful in that role, highlighted by back-to-back 142-yard outings in Weeks 5 and 6. Bourne will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, but he's unlikely to land in a situation that would make him a viable fantasy target in 2026.

  • 49ers' Kendrick Bourne: Non-factor in Saturday's loss

Bourne failed to catch his only target in Saturday's 13-3 loss to the Seahawks.

WR Ricky Pearsall (knee/ankle) was back on the sidelines for Week 18, but it was Demarcus Robinson (3-24-0) who filled in for the oft-injured starter this time around. Bourne had been elevated ahead of Robinson in similar scenarios earlier this season, but head coach Kyle Shanahan shuffled his veteran backups in the receiver pecking order Saturday. This development, coupled with the potential for Pearsall to return for the wild-card round, severely limits Bourne's upside for the start of the playoffs.

  • 49ers' Kendrick Bourne: Stands to benefit with Pearsall out

Bourne is in line for more work Saturday versus the Seahawks due to Ricky Pearsall (knee/ankle) being inactive, Brianna Jeannel of the 49ers' official site reports.

In Pearsall's absences during Weeks 5-10 and 16 this season, Bourne has been the biggest beneficiary among San Francisco's wide receivers, tallying a 26-422-0 line on 34 targets over those seven games. He'll have to vie with fellow WR Jauan Jennings, RB Christian McCaffrey and TE George Kittle (ankle) for looks from QB Brock Purdy, but the opportunity still knocks for Bourne.

  • 49ers' Kendrick Bourne: Gains 25 yards off one reception

Bourne caught his only target for 25 yards in Sunday's 42-38 win over the Bears.

Starting WR Ricky Pearsall (ankle/knee) returned from a one-game absence and pushed Bourne back to fourth on San Francisco's receiver depth chart. The 29-year-old Bourne finished the contest with 19 snaps played on offense (26 percent), which doesn't bode well for his playing time prospects in Week 18. Barring an unforeseen injury to one of the 49ers' starting wideouts, Bourne can safely be ignored against the Seahawks on Saturday.

  • 49ers' Kendrick Bourne: Gains 27 yards in spot-start

Bourne had three receptions (on five targets) for 27 yards in Monday's 48-27 win over the Colts.

Bourne was inserted into the starting lineup in place of injured teammate Ricky Pearsall (ankle/knee) and finished fourth in team targets. The 29-year-old Bourne was unable to recreate the gaudy receiving numbers we saw in Weeks 5 and 6 when he was asked to start in place of injured starters then. If Pearsall remains sidelined against the Bears and TE George Kittle (ankle) also is unable to go, then that scenario could produce enough meat on the bone for Bourne to eat in Week 17.

  • 49ers' Kendrick Bourne: Larger role on tap sans Pearsall

Bourne is poised to take on a larger role against the Colts on Monday after Ricky Pearsall (knee/ankle) was officially ruled out, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.

Bourne has seen his usage on offense fluctuate over the course of the regular season, but his most productive stints came when Pearsall was sidelined for six games due to a separate knee injury. That included back-to-back games in which Bourne recorded 142 receiving yards in Weeks 5 and 6, though he hasn't accumulated more than 50 yards in any of his other 11 regular-season games. He sits at 499 receiving yards through 13 regular-season games, and he needs just one more yard to earn a $500,000 bonus, per Vic Tafur of The Athletic.

  • 49ers' Kendrick Bourne: Re-emerges in slot role

Bourne had two receptions (on three targets) for 17 yards in Sunday's 37-24 win over the Titans.

Bourne jumped back up to third on San Francisco's receiver depth chart while logging 33 snaps on offense (45 percent) Sunday. The 29-year-old also nabbed his first reception since Week 10 after seemingly falling out of favor midseason. If Bourne continues to operate as the 49ers' third receiver down the stretch, then desperate fantasy managers in deeper formats could take a look at the veteran against the Colts next Monday, especially if starter Ricky Pearsall (ankle/knee) is limited by a couple of minor injuries that cropped up in Week 15's win.

  • 49ers' Kendrick Bourne: First target since Week 10

Bourne was held without a catch (one target) in Sunday's 26-8 win over the Browns.

Bourne was targeted for the first time since Week 10 in Sunday's road victory, but he failed to haul in his only opportunity across 23 snaps played on offense (34 percent). The veteran wideout has been relegated to No. 4 on the depth chart ever since Ricky Pearsall returned from a knee injury Week 11. Bourne should remain a fantasy afterthought when the 49ers return from the upcoming bye week to face the Titans on Sunday, Dec. 14.
