Walter Powell: Joins Jacksonville's practice squad
The Jaguars signed Powell to their practice squad Tuesday.
With all five receivers on the Jaguars' 53-man roster in seemingly good health entering Sunday's AFC championship against the Patriots, Powell isn't in line for a promotion. Instead, the Jaguars will likely evaluate him in practices for the duration of their postseason run before determining whether he's worthy of keeping around for their offseason program.

Walter Powell: Cut by Bills
Powell (suspension) was released by Buffalo on Monday, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
Powell was scheduled to come off the reserve/suspension list Monday, which on its own would have caused the team to exceed the 53-man roster limit. Rather than parting ways with someone else, the first-place Bills figured it would be a good idea to keep chugging forward with who they have now.

Bills' Walter Powell: Receives four-game suspension
Powell has received a four-game suspension for violating the league's performance-enhancing drug policy, the Bills' official site reports.
Powell claims he accidentally used a product that caused the positive result, but has accepted the NFL's discipline and won't appeal. He'll be eligible to return to the team's active roster in early October following the Bills' Week 4 matchup against the Falcons. Powell has hauled in just 14 passes throughout his past two seasons in Buffalo, while news of a suspension won't bode well for his chances at making the team in the long run.

Bills' Walter Powell: Placed on IR
Powell (ankle) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Mike Rodak of ESPN.com reports.
Powell was carted off the field Sunday against the Jaguars and will now spend the remainder of the season on the sideline. A depth option at wideout, the 25-year-old recorded 14 receptions for 142 yards in nine games this year. The team promoted wide receiver Dezmin Lewis from the practice squad as result of the injury.

Bills' Walter Powell: No longer on injury report
Powell (hip) was not on the Bills' Wednesday injury report.
Powell appears to be over the hip injury that kept him out of Sunday's win over the Bengals. He projects to be available in Week 12 against the Jaguars at this rate, though with Sammy Watkins almost back and with Percy Harvin getting more playing time, Powell's role is likely limited to special teams, even with Robert Woods out of action.

With Powell out, Marquise Goodwin, Justin Hunter and Percy Harvin are in line to jostle for wideout targets behind Robert Woods on Sunday.

Bills' Walter Powell: Listed as questionable
Powell (hip) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bengals.
Coming off a one-catch effort in Week 9, Powell is only a deep league consideration, with Marquise Goodwin, Justin Hunter (if healthy) and Percy Harvin all vying for wideout targets behind Robert Woods.

Bills' Walter Powell: Limited Wednesday
Powell (hip) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
It isn't clear whether Powell was injured the team's last game or Wednesday's practice, but his status for Week 11 is nonetheless in question. His level of participation Thursday and Friday will likely provide further insight towards his availability for this weekend's meeting with the Bengals.

Bills' Walter Powell: Chipping in
Powell was targeted eight times in Buffalo's loss to New England, catching three of them for a team-high 59 yards.
Powell saw action on 60 offensive snaps (78 percent) for the Bills' injury-depleted offense. However, his production remains limited and it's hard to look at a guy that hadn't passed the 30-yard mark in any game as a pro before Sunday, especially with the team signing Percy Harvin this week.

Bills' Walter Powell: Minor role continues
Powell was on the field for just 27 of 79 offensive snaps in Sunday's win over the 49ers, failing to get even one target from Tyrod Taylor.
Justin Hunter was signed a couple weeks ago and has already passed all the Bills depth receivers to quickly become the No. 3 guy. In an offense that doesn't pass much to begin with, that leaves pretty much nothing for Powell to work with in terms of weekly production.

Bills' Walter Powell: Not part of Sunday's return game
Powell is inactive for Sunday's game in Baltimore.
Powell was kept on the final roster because he rallied late in the summer and for his potential return skills, but the Bills have also added Reggie Bush and Brandon Tate late in the game, so Powell's chances to make a big play will be put on hold for at least one more week.

Bills' Walter Powell: Has good chance to make final roster
Powell (undisclosed) did not suffer a serious injury and has a good shot make the final roster, ESPN's Mike Rodak reports.
Powell starred in the second half of Friday's preseason game against Washington, catching five passes for 55 yards and adding three punt returns for 57 yards. He appeared to get shaken up on the final play of the game, but the Bills haven't diagnosed him with any injury. Although Reggie Bush is expected to return punts, Powell could make the team as a depth receiver and return man. The Buffalo wideout depth chart is up for grabs behind starters Sammy Watkins and Robert Woods, with all of Powell, Greg Lewis, Greg Salas, Dez Lewis and Marquise Goodwin (concussion) vying for roles.

Bills' Walter Powell: Injured after strong showing
Powell caught five passes for 55 yards during Friday's preseason game against Washington. He also returned three punts for 57 yards, but was shaken up on the last play of the game, ESPN's Mike Rodak reports.
Powell may have been on the outside looking in earlier in the summer, but with none of the logjam of reserve receivers stepping up the last few weeks, he may have worked his way back into a final roster consideration. Rex Ryan has been complimentary of Powell lately, but not so much that he can afford going on the shelf for more than a day or two.
