Connor Shaw: Ends playing career
Shaw agreed Tuesday to become the new tight ends coach at Furman University, effectively ending his playing career, Josh Kendall of The Columbia State reports.
After going undrafted out of South Carolina in 2014, Shaw had stints with the Browns and Bears, with his lone appearance coming that same year for Cleveland in a Week 17 start. After being waived by the Bears following training camp in September, Shaw didn't end up latching on elsewhere and will now make the transition to the coaching ranks.

Connor Shaw: Reaches injury settlement
Shaw (hamstring) was waived off injured reserve Friday after he and the Bears came to an agreement on an injury settlement, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Shaw was never expected to make the team's final roster, as both Mike Glennon and rookie Mitchell Trubisky were essentially locks to make the cut. The 25-year-old would have had to spend the year on IR if he and the team could not reach a settlement, but he's now free to find a new opportunity when he returns to full health.

Bears' Connor Shaw: Reverts to IR
Shaw (hamstring) was placed on IR, Adam Jahns of The Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Shaw's placement on IR indicates that he probably won't suit up for the Bears during the regular season, given that he's injured and there are three quarterbacks ahead of him. He'll have a chance to make the active roster next season, but it looks like his 2017 season is over.

Connor Shaw: Heads to waivers with injury tag
Shaw (hamstring) was waived/injured by the Bears on Saturday.
With the expensive Mike Glennon and the 2017 second-overall pick, Mitchell Trubisky, already locked into the depth chart, it's no surprise that Shaw was the odd man out. Shaw hasn't played a regular season snap since 2014, so expect him to end up on a practice squad.

Bears' Connor Shaw: Under evaluation for concussion
Shaw exited in the fourth quarter of Thursday's preseason game against the Browns to be evaluated for a concussion, Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Shaw will need to clear the NFL's concussion protocol in order to return to the field before the game comes to a close.

Bears' Connor Shaw: Passes concussion protocol
Shaw cleared the NFL's concussion protocol and returned to Thursday's exhibition against the Browns, Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Shaw briefly exited in the fourth quarter while he was evaluated for a head injury, allowing rookie Mitchell Trubisky to see a little extra game action. Shaw should be fine moving forward now that he's passed all tests.

Bears' Connor Shaw: Plays one series with reserves
Shaw completed two of three passes for 22 yards in Sunday's 19-7 victory over the Titans.
Shaw came in to play during the last three minutes of the game after Mike Glennon and Mitch Trubisky were finished for the day. Although Mark Sanchez didn't play in the contest, Shaw is more likely to land on the practice squad than earn a spot on the regular-season roster, as Sanchez remains ahead of him on the depth chart.

Bears' Connor Shaw: Returns to practice Saturday
Shaw (lower leg) made his return to practice after missing just over a week, Jeff Dickerson of ESPN.com reports.
Shaw had a screw removed from a prior surgery to his leg, but he's back on the field. Unless the Bears suffer an injury at quarterback, he likely won't make the regular-season roster, as he's currently fourth on the depth chart.

Bears' Connor Shaw: Not expected to play Thursday
Shaw (lower leg) isn't expected to play in Thursday's preseason opener against the Broncos, Adam Hoge of WGN Radio reports.
As expected, Shaw will take a seat as he recovers from minor ankle surgery, leaving all the reps Thursday for Mike Glennon, Mark Sanchez and Mitchell Trubisky.

Bears' Connor Shaw: Misses practice Friday
Shaw missed practice Friday due to minor surgery to remove a screw from the procedure he had done on his ankle, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Shaw is currently the fourth-string quarterback, and with it being unlikely that the Bears keep more than three signal-callers on the roster, he's unlikely to make the final roster unless someone ahead of him suffers an injury.

Bears' Connor Shaw: Remaining in Chicago
Shaw (lower leg), who was reportedly waived earlier Tuesday, will actually remain with the team, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
The reason for the Bears' change of heart stems from a left knee injury suffered by Mark Sanchez in Tuesday's OTA. Sanchez is expected to return for training camp, but until then Shaw will be bumped up to the No. 3 option on the depth chart. Unless Sanchez's injury worsens or Shaw can win over the approval of the coaching staff in the next week, it appears as if the 25-year-old's release will be impending.

Connor Shaw: Let go by Chicago
Shaw (leg) was waived by the Bears on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
The 25-year-old Shaw, who missed the entire 2016 season with a broken leg, was fourth on the depth chart at quarterback for the Bears and may have had difficulty even earning a spot on the practice squad this season with the team already possessing a higher-upside developmental option in No. 2 overall pick Mitchell Trubisky. As such, the Bears decided to let Shaw go in order to allow him to find a spot with another organization before training camp begins. Shaw's release clears a spot on the roster for receiver Victor Cruz, who agreed to a contract with the Bears last week.
