Elijah Hood: Let go by Jacksonville
Hood was released from the Jaguars' practice squad Monday, Phillip Heilman of The Athletic reports.
Hood latched onto Jacksonville's practice squad after failing to crack the 53-man roster but he lasted only a day before being released in favor of DT Eli Ankou. The 23-year-old had eight carries for 71 yards and two receptions for 14 yards in the preseason.

Elijah Hood: Added to Jags' practice squad
Hood signed with Jacksonville's practice squad Sunday, John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site reports.
Hood signed with the Jaguars halfway through the preseason and only touched the ball in the exhibition finale, carrying eight times for 71 yards and catching two passes for 14 yards. Despite the limited exposure, the 23-year-old apparently showcased himself well enough to earn a spot on the practice squad.

Jaguars' Elijah Hood: Jags' top rusher against Atlanta
Hood gained 71 yards on eight rushes and caught two of three targets for 14 receiving yards during Thursday's 31-12 preseason loss to the Falcons.
The 23-year-old back out of North Carolina heated up as the preseason finale progressed, tearing off a 49-yard carry on his final carry to set up Jacksonville for its only touchdown of the contest -- a 16-yard Alex McGough run three plays later. Despite Hood's impressive outing, he faces an uphill battle for a roster spot with Alfred Blue (ankle), Ryquell Armstead and Thomas Rawls all situated between him and starter Leonard Fournette on the depth chart.

Jaguars' Elijah Hood: Signs with Jacksonville
Hood signed a contract with the Jaguars on Saturday, Phillip Heilman of The Athletic reports.
Primary backup Alfred Blue picked up an ankle injury during the team's second preseason contest, joining Ryquell Armstead (head) as backs with multiweek injuries. As a result, Hood will slot in behind Thomas Rawls on the team's depth chart and could wind up receiving some work in the preseason should Blue or Armstead continue to miss time.

Hood (knee) was waived by the Panthers on Wednesday, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Hood was signed this offseason to a one-year deal with the Panthers but will have to find an opportunity elsewhere. He also suffered a torn ACL in last season's preseason finale, so that fact could've swayed the team in this direction. The 230-pound bruiser has some NFL experience, having spent time on the Raiders' practice squad in 2017.

Hood (knee) is signing a one-year deal to stay with the Panthers, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.
Hood was a long shot to make the 53-man roster this past summer, but the Panthers kept him on injured reserve after he suffered a torn ACL in the preseason finale. The timing of Hood's injury should allow him to be ready for the start of training camp, where he'll once again face a difficult path to make the team. The 230-pound bruiser was selected by Oakland in the seventh round of the 2017 draft and spent most of his rookie season on the Raiders' practice squad.

Panthers' Elijah Hood: Placed on IR
Hood (knee) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Joe Person of The Athletic Carolina reports.
Hood's placement on injured reserve will keep him out until at least Week 8 of the regular season. There's a chance Hood could be recalled to the active roster after Week 8, but the odds of that happening seem slim to none at the moment.

Panthers' Elijah Hood: Claimed by Carolina
Hood was claimed off waivers Tuesday by the Panthers, Joe Person of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Hood was originally selected by the Raiders in the 7th round of last year's draft, but he spent majority of his rookie season on the team's practice squad and was waived by Oakland on Monday. The Panthers are pretty secure with their depth at running back, especially considering they signed veteran tailback C.J. Anderson on Monday, so he could be in line for another year on a practice squad.

Hood was waived by the Raiders on Monday.
A seventh-round pick of the Raiders in 2017, Hood ended up seeing action in just one game as a rookie, as he spent the bulk of the season on the practice squad. Hood was always considered a long shot to make Oakland's roster ahead of the upcoming season, and the fact that he's being cut so early in the offseason doesn't bode well for his chances of making a roster elsewhere.
