Jets' Jason Sanders: Elevated once again
The Jets elevated Sanders from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Amanda Vogt of the team's official site reports.
Sanders will come up from the practice squad for the second week in a row to handle kicking duties for the Jets. Though Blake Grupe is signed to the 53-man roster, the Jets could eventually move on from him to open up a full-time spot for Sanders if he performs well enough to hold down the kicking job. In his team debut in last Sunday's win over the Titans, Sanders converted on both of his point-after tries and connected on field goals of 33, 51 and 52 yards while missing badly from 54 yards.

Jets' Jason Sanders: Will kick again this week
Sanders will remain the Jets' kicker for Sunday's game against the Packers, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Blake Grupe remains on the active roster for the Jets, but for the second time in as many weeks Sanders will be brought up from the practice squad to handle the kicking duties. Sanders appears to be the frontrunner to open the season as the Jets' kicker after Cade York was waived Tuesday, Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reports.
The Jets brought in both Sanders and York on one-year deals to compete for the kicking job. Sanders' longer record of NFL success gave him an early edge, and he ended up pulling away after converting both of his point-after attempts as well as field-goal attempts from 39 and 47 yards in the first two preseason contests. Jets special teams coach Chris Banjo said Tuesday that Sanders "has won the job" at placekicker, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.

Sanders hasn't appeared in a regular-season game during the current campaign after injuring his hip in preseason.
