Kaare Vedvik: Could be called upon Sunday
Vedvik could be called up from the practice squad for Sunday's game against the Lions if Dustin Hopkins (groin) can't play, Kyle Stackpole of Washington's official site reports.
Vedvik has only one appearance in the NFL under his belt, but he could get another shot in Detroit on Sunday. Hopkins is officially listed as questionable, and coach Ron Rivera has said that the decision on his availability could come down to a game-time call.

Vedvik has the ability to act as both a kicker and punter, but the Panthers likely are taking a look at him as the latter due to regular punter Michael Palardy tearing his ACL in the offseason. Bills' Kaare Vedvik: Competing for roster spot
While Corey Bojorquez is the incumbent punter and is the top guy on the depth chart, Vedvik will be given fair chance to compete for the spot, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports. "I know he's improving," said special teams coach Heath Farwell of Vedvik. "Nobody works harder. So he is a guy that will do whatever he can. Kaare is a guy who's really going to push Corey Bojorquez."
Vedvik has a booming leg and can also serve as a kickoff specialist, so there's a chance he could make the team as a third kicker, even if he doesn't beat out Bojorquez. The latter was shaky at times last season, so it wouldn't be a shock if Vedvik usurps him for the role. Vedvik, a Marshall product, has been woking out diligently during the pandemic with some other Bills, namely long snapper and veteran Reid Ferguson.

Bills' Kaare Vedvik: Secures future contract
Vedvik signed a reserve/future contract with the Bills on Tuesday.
Vedvik was picked up off waivers to start the season, but his stint with the Jets didn't last long. The 25-year-old kicker missed a field goal and an extra point in Week 1's 17-16 loss to the Bills, so Gang Green quickly replaced him with Sam Ficken. Vedvik may compete with Stephen Hauschka for the Bills' starting job in 2020, but the former has an uphill battle since Hauschka had a strong end to the season and is under contract for two more years. Vedvik also can work as a punter, so he could be assigned to battle Corey Bojorquez for that role.
