Commanders' Nick Allegretti: Expected to practice Tuesday
Allegretti (calf) is expected to practice in some capacity Tuesday, Zach Selby of the Commanders' official site reports.
Allegretti has been nursing a calf injury since early August, but he now appears to be close to full health. The 30-year-old is competing to earn the starting role at center in 2026, and he'll have a chance to play in Saturday's preseason matchup with the Lions.

Commanders' Nick Allegretti: Dealing with calf strain
Allegretti is expected to miss the next week of camp due to a calf strain, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Allegretti is viewed as a contender for the starting center role for the upcoming season, so the timing of the issue isn't ideal. However, the injury isn't considered long term, and Allegretti could still log plenty of action during training camp and in preseason games. Keim notes that Brandon Coleman, who is competing for a starting role at left guard, took some center snaps after practice Saturday, which suggests that he could emerge as an option at center, especially if Allegretti's injury lingers longer than expected.

Commanders' Nick Allegretti: Signing two-year extension
Allegretti and the Commanders agreed to terms Monday on a two-year contract extension, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Allegretti will be a candidate to start at center for Washington next season, with the team releasing Tyler Biadasz (ankle). Last year, Allegretti started two games at center in place of an injured Biadasz, looking notably better than he did in 2024, when he suited up for all 17 regular-season games but had to be switched from LG to RG and was then benched. It remains possible that the Commanders will add another option at center in free agency or the 2026 NFL Draft.

Commanders' Nick Allegretti: Returns Sunday
Allegretti (ankle) is active Sunday against the Browns.
Allegretti left last week's win over the Cardinals with the injury and was unable to return to the game. The Illinois product is now healthy enough to suit up and should get the start at left guard against Cleveland.
