New NFL Playoff Teams For 2026: Chiefs

Top Derrick Nnadi News

  • Colts' Derrick Nnadi: Headed to Indianapolis

Nnadi and the Colts agreed on a contract Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Nnadi will head to Indianapolis after spending the first eight seasons of his career with the Chiefs, though he did spend last offseason as a member of the Jets before being traded back to Kansas City prior to the 2025 campaign. The defensive lineman registered 16 total tackles (10 solo) over 15 regular-season contests with the Chiefs this past year, and he'll provide the Colts with another veteran presence on the interior defensive line in 2026.

  • Chiefs' Derrick Nnadi: Re-ignited by return trade

Nnadi ended the 2025 season with 16 tackles, including 10 solo tackles, over 15 games.

Nnadi signed a one-year contract with the Jets, but he ended up being traded back to the Chiefs before the start of the regular season for a conditional 2027 draft-pick swap. Finding himself back in familiar circumstances, the defensive tackle was able to log five more tackles (seven more solo tackles) than in the 2024 regular season. The 29-year-old was able to prove he can still be an effective run defender at this stage of his career, and he will surely be an attractive target for any team looking for a cost-effective lineman familiar with 4-3 defenses.

  • Chiefs' Derrick Nnadi: Logs full practice Wednesday

Nnadi (illness) was a full practice participant Wednesday.

Nnadi had to miss last Kansas City's past two games due to an illness, but he appears to be feeling better. With a full practice in tow to begin week 18 prep, it's likely the veteran defensive tackle will be able to return to action for the Chiefs' season finale Sunday against Las Vegas.

  • Chiefs' Derrick Nnadi: Unavailable for Week 17

Nnadi (illness) is inactive for Thursday night's contest against Denver.

Nnadi will be forced to miss a second straight game while recovering from an illness. In his absence, Jerry Tillery is a top candidate to step into a starting role on the defensive line versus the Broncos.

  • Chiefs' Derrick Nnadi: Chance to play Christmas Day

Nnadi (illness) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Broncos.

Nnadi was limited during Week 17 prep due to an illness that prevented him from playing Sunday against the Titans, which was enough for him to earn the questionable tag for Christmas Day. His return would result in less playing time at defensive tackle for Jerry Tillery, Mike Pennel and Zacch Pickens.

  • Chiefs' Derrick Nnadi: Out for Sunday

Nnadi (illness) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Titans.

The veteran defensive tackle from Florida State didn't practice Thursday or Friday due to an illness, so it's no surprise that he won't suit up for Sunday's contest. Nnadi is now in line to miss his first game of the season in Week 16, meaning Mike Pennel and Jerry Tillery will likely have have larger roles with the Chiefs' first-team defensive line.

  • Chiefs' Derrick Nnadi: DNP with illness

Nnadi (illness) did not participate in Thursday's practice, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports.

Nnadi appears to have been struck by a sudden illness, causing the defensive tackle to miss Thursday's session. If the 29-year-old can practice Friday, he should have a good chance of suiting up for Sunday's game against the Titans.

  • Chiefs' Derrick Nnadi: Going back to KC

The Jets traded Nnadi to the Chiefs on Sunday in exchange for a conditional 2027 draft-pick swap, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.

Nnadi spent his first seven NFL campaigns with Kansas City before signing with the Jets in March. However, the Florida State product won't end up playing in a regular-season game for New York; instead, he'll continue his career with the only squad he's suited for as a pro. Nnadi doesn't rack up fantasy-relevant stats as an IDP, but he's been incredibly durable, playing in all 17 regular-season contests each of the past four years. He'll likely work in a rotational role with the Chiefs as he did last season, though his snap count may decrease after the team brought in a pair of defensive tackles in rookie Omarr Norman-Lott (ankle) and veteran Jerry Tillery.
