  • Saints' Dante Pettis: Catches two passes Week 15

Pettis tallied two receptions (on five targets) for 24 yards during Sunday's 20-19 defeat against Washington. Pettis logged more than two targets for the first time this season. He also tied with running back Alvin Kamara (groin) for the team's second-most targets behind deep threat Marquez Valdes-Scantling (seven), though this ultimately didn't mean much in terms of fantasy value, as the Saints' passing game was largely ineffective without starting quarterback Derek Carr (concussion/hand). With no clear No. 1 receiver, it's likely that the Saints will continue spreading the ball around to multiple pass catchers. However, if Kamara ends up missing time after being forced out with a groin injury in the fourth quarter, then it's possible that the Saints will rely more on its wideouts and tight ends. The team will have one extra day to rest before facing the Packers on Monday, Dec. 23.

  • Saints' Dante Pettis: Held without catch in Week 14

Pettis took the field for 21 of the Saints' 68 snaps on offense and was unable to reel in either of his two targets in Sunday's 14-11 win over the Giants. Pettis was held without a catch for the first time in four appearances with the Saints and finished fourth in snaps among New Orleans receivers, trailing Marquez Valdes-Scantling (48), Kevin Austin (44) and Cedrick Wilson (25). The 29-year-old is unlikely to see his role grow dramatically over the final four games of the season, though he'll at least have some security after the Saints gave him a permanent spot on the roster by signing him off the practice squad last week.

  • Saints' Dante Pettis: Signed to active roster by NOLA

The Saints signed Pettis from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana reports. Pettis had been elevated from the Saints' practice squad for the last three games, and now he's set to be on the active roster for the rest of the 2024 regular season. Across his three outings, Pettis logged three catches (on four targets) for 22 yards while adding 26 kick return yards and 54 punt return yards.

  • Saints' Dante Pettis: Moves back to practice squad

Pettis reverted to the Saints' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Pettis has received some run in New Orleans' offense the last three games due to the banged-up nature of the receiving corps, recording exactly one catch on each occasion. Overall, his 3-22-0 line on four targets during that span isn't much to write home about, and his snap share (20 percent) Sunday against the Rams was behind all of Marquez Valdes-Scantling (76), Kevin Austin (61) and Cedrick Wilson (33). Because the Saints have used the maximum allotment of three elevations on Pettis, he'll need to be signed to the active roster in order to suit up this coming Sunday at the Giants.

The Washington product also played five special-teams snaps and returned two punts for 54 yards, including a 53-yard return that was initially ruled an 88-yard touchdown before being called back for stepping out of bounds. • Saints' Dante Pettis: Elevated from practice squad

New Orleans elevated Pettis from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports. Pettis signed with the Saints' practice squad Oct. 15 after being let go with an injury settlement by the Bears on Sept. 5. He'll provide the Saints some depth at wide receiver against the Falcons on Sunday, as Chris Olave (concussion) is on injured reserve and Cedrick Wilson (shoulder) has been ruled out. • Dante Pettis: Joins Saints' practice squad

New Orleans signed Pettis (undisclosed) to its practice squad Tuesday. Pettis was cut from the Bears' injured reserve list in early September, but with the Saints dealing with multiple injuries to an already-thin group of wide receivers, it now looks like he could suit up for his 2024 debut as soon as Thursday. Specifically, his experience returning punts could prove helpful with Rashid Shaheed's (knee) status for Week 7 up in the air.

The Cowboys hosted Pettis (undisclosed) for a workout Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. • Dante Pettis: Let go with injury settlement

The Bears released Pettis (undisclosed) from injured reserve Thursday with an injury settlement, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. The injury settlement allows Pettis to sign with another team once he is recovered from whatever is ailing him. The 2018 second-round pick missed all of last season due to a back injury he sustained during training camp. Pettis appeared in all 17 regular-season games for the Bears in 2022, and he finished with 19 catches (on 41 targets) for 245 yards and three touchdowns.

  • Bears' Dante Pettis: Placed on IR

The Bears placed Pettis on injured reserve Tuesday with an undisclosed injury, Larry Mayer of the team's official site reports. With no designation to return, the only way Pettis can play this season is if he reaches an injury settlement and gets released by the Bears. He scored a pair of touchdowns during the preseason but isn't likely to be more than a fifth or sixth wideout even if he gets healthy at some point soon.

  • Bears' Dante Pettis: Catches two TDs

Pettis caught each of his three targets for 53 yards and two touchdowns in a 27-3 preseason win over the Bengals on Saturday. A 2018 second-round pick, Pettis was the Bears' No. 3 receiver as recently as 2022 but didn't play in 2023 after suffering a back injury last August. He's now battling for one of the final roster spots, having caught each of his three passes Saturday in the third quarter after starting QB Caleb Williams was pulled from the game.

  • Bears' Dante Pettis: Likely battling for rotational work

After missing the 2023 season with a back injury, Pettis is likely battling for a depth role in the Chicago offense. In 2022 with the Bears, Pettis posted 245 receiving yards and three touchdowns, which represented his best season since 2018. Unlike previous Bears teams, Chicago now has a strong trio of wide receivers in DJ Moore, Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze. As a result, Pettis will likely be battling for a roster spot against Tyler Scott, Velus Jones, DeAndre Carter and others.

  • Bears' Dante Pettis: Back with Chicago

The Bears signed Pettis (undisclosed) to a one-year deal Friday, Larry Mayer of the team's official site reports. The 2018 second-round pick has spent time with the 49ers, Giants and Bears throughout his five-year NFL career, and he's agreed to terms to return to Chicago. Pettis' most recent in-game action came back in 2022 with the Bears, appearing in 17 games and catching 19 of his 41 targets for 245 yards and three touchdowns. The 28-year-old wideout also returned 18 punts for 163 yards in 2022, and he'll likely be competing to make Chicago's 53-man roster as a return man this offseason.

  • Bears' Dante Pettis: Ready to return

Pettis (undisclosed) was activated from the active/non-football injury list Wednesday. Pettis was able to pass a physical and get cleared to compete after being sidelined since the start of training camp. The 27-year-old should be in the mix to earn a depth role in the team's receiving corps; however, with the addition of DJ Moore and Tyler Scott during the offseason, Pettis may find it more difficult to make the Bears' roster this season.
