Willis joined the Bears' practice squad last Decembe and dressed a backup for the team's Week 16 game against Seattle. He then re-upped with Chicago on a reserve/future contract in January, but he won't make it with the Bears to training camp.

The Bears signed Willis to a reserve/futures contract Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports.
The quarterback's contract with the team was disapproved Tuesday before being corrected and officially signed Wednesday. Willis will remain with the Bears for 2022 after signing with their practice squad in December.

Willis joined the Bears' practice squad in mid-December and didn't take the field during the lone game in which he was elevated to the active roster. The 25-year-old will attempt to carve out a depth role during the offseason.

Ryan Willis: Heads back to practice squad
Willis reverted to the Bears' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Willis was signed to the Bears' practice squad Dec. 18 to serve as additional depth after Andy Dalton (undisclosed) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list. The 25-year-old didn't play, as Nick Foles led Chicago to a 25-24 victory over the Seahawks. Willis will now head back to Chicago's practice squad.

Bears' Ryan Willis: Moves to active roster
Willis was elevated to the Bears' active roster Saturday.
Willis has yet to make his NFL debut, but he'll be in a pivotal spot come Sunday with Andy Dalton (left hand/groin) out and Justin Fields (ankle) at the very least not starting. As a result, Nick Foles will take over as the official starter while Willis could at the very least operate as the primary backup.
