  • Raiders' Jakobi Meyers: Snags four passes Sunday

Meyers notched four catches (on five targets) for 29 yards during Sunday's 26-23 win at Baltimore.

Meyers made the most of his three targets in a season-opening loss to the Chargers, pacing the Raiders with 61 yards on three receptions. In Week 2, though, he took a back seat to No. 1 WR Davante Adams (9-110-1 on 12 targets) and rookie TE Brock Bowers (9-98-0 on nine targets), which likely will be the case most games for Las Vegas in 2024. Meyers' next opportunity to make a mark comes next Sunday against the Panthers.

  • Raiders' Jakobi Meyers: Leading receiver in Week 1 loss

Meyers caught all three of his targets for 61 yards and added a three-yard rush in Sunday's 22-10 loss to the Chargers.

Meyers' production included a 33-yard catch, which was the longest passing play for either team. He finished with a team-high 61 receiving yards, narrowly edging out Davante Adams (59 yards on six targets) and Brock Bowers (58 yards on eight targets). Adams and Bowers will likely continue to get most of the attention from quarterback Gardner Minshew, so Meyers may need to make the most of limited opportunities to find success in Week 2 against the Ravens and beyond.

  • Raiders' Jakobi Meyers: Not expected to play Friday

Meyers and other starters aren't scheduled to play in Friday's preseason game against the 49ers, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.

It sounds like the Raiders may also hold out some of their better backups, as QB Aidan O'Connell isn't expected to play Friday night. Come Week 1, the team will have a strong group of pass catchers competing for targets from Gardner Minshew in a road game against the Chargers. It'll be tricky for Meyers to match his 2023 numbers for volume (106 targets in 16 games) or touchdowns (eight rushing, two receiving), but there's no question he'll be on the field for a lot of snaps as either the second or third option in the Raiders' passing game (depending on rookie TE Brock Bowers' usage/progress).
