Simon Stepaniak: Retires from NFL
Stepaniak (knee) has been placed on the reserve/retired list by the Packers.
Stepaniak did not play a single snap during his rookie season as he tried to recover from a torn ACL he suffered in December of 2019. The 2020 sixth-round pick out of Indiana was hoping to be healthy by the start of training camp, but his knee didn't cooperate. Now, the former Hoosier finds himself out of the NFL completely.

Stepaniak (knee) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
The transaction was made to free up a roster spot for offensive tackle Jared Veldheer, who was signed off the Colts' practice squad. Stepaniak spent most of the season on the reserve/non-football injury list, as he was still recovering from the torn ACL he suffered in December of 2019. The rookie sixth-round pick still didn't play a snap after being activated from the reserve list. He'll aim to stay healthy this offseason and make the NFL roster in 2021.

The 23-year-old was activated from the non-football injury list in early December but has yet to be active for a game while progressing in his recovery from ACL surgery in December 2019. It's unclear if Stepaniak is expected to be game ready at some point during the playoffs.

The sixth-round rookie came off injured reserve last Wednesday, though he remains unable to make his NFL debut after kicking off the season on the NFI list. If capable of reaching the field this season, Stepaniak will likely slot into a depth role on the offensive line as Green Bay aims to lock down the NFC's No. 1 seed.

Stepaniak (knee) was designated to return from the reserve/non-football injury list Wednesday, opening his 21-day window to be activated, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Stepaniak tore his ACL in late December 2019, and he's making progress in his recovery. The rookie sixth-round pick can start practicing this week, and the Packers have until Dec. 9 to evaluate him, at which point they can either activate him, waive him or place him on season-ending IR.

Packers' Simon Stepaniak: Heading to Green Bay
The Packers selected Stepaniak (knee) in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, 209th overall.
Green Bay double-tapped offensive line with its back-to-back picks in the sixth, nabbing Jake Hanson out of Oregon before adding Stepaniak. The Indiana product is coming off an ACL tear suffered in the Hoosiers' bowl game, so his NFL debut could be delayed. He was a two-year starter at Indiana and has the frame to hold up on the interior at 6-foot-4 and 313 pounds.
