Bates hit five of his six extra-point attempts in Thursday's 41-31 win over the Lions.
When the kicker missed, Amazon Prime announcer Al Michaels joked that it was the only thing that had gone wrong for Buffalo on the night. To be fair to Bass, he did make field goals from 46, 34 and 33 yards and all three of his extra-point attempts in Week 1. He is also clearly still a fantasy-relevant option as the kicker for a high-flying offense led by Josh Allen and James Cook.

Bass went 3-for-3 on field-goal attempts while making all three of his PATs in Sunday's 36-31 win over the Texans.

Bills' Tyler Bass: Recovered from injury
Bass noted Thursday that he's fully healthy after recovering from a pelvic injury that cost him the entire 2025 season, Matt Parrino of Syracuse.com reports.
Bass acknowledged that the injury entailed a difficult recovery, noting "it was hard to get out of bed for a couple weeks," while adding "when I started kicking, we started with baby steps - 20-yarders, 10-yarders, and then working from there. It wasn't until midway through OTAs where I started feeling like myself again." Now that the 29-year-old is back on the field, he's positioned to reclaim his role as the Bills' top kicker while working behind the team's Josh Allen-led offense, a context that puts Bass back on the fantasy radar, provided he remains healthy.

Bills' Tyler Bass: Promising health outlook
General manager Brandon Beane said this week that Bass, who missed the entire 2025 campaign due to a pelvic injury that required surgery, is close to full health again. "If he's not 100 (percent), he's right at it," Beane said Monday as reported on the Bills' official site.
Bass has handled the Bills' kicking duties since being drafted in 2020, but the team was forced to go with Matt Prater and Michael Badgley in 2025. Bass never came close to suiting up due to a sports hernia that ultimately required surgery in November. Neither Prater nor Badgley is with the team any longer, so it looks like the Bills are comfortable with Bass being their main guy next season. He could prove to be a sleeper if he gets forgotten about due to his lack of 2025 stats, as well as the fact that the Bills have a new offensively minded head coach in Joe Brady to boost their Josh Allen-led attack.

Bills' Tyler Bass: Takes pay cut for 2026
Bass (pelvis) agreed to a contract restructure with the Bills on Tuesday, Sal Maiorana of Democrat and Chronicle reports.
Bass, who missed Buffalo's entire 2025 campaign due to a pelvic injury that required surgery, was set to make $4.9 million during the 2026 season. However, he's since agreed to a contract restructure that saves the Bills roughly $1.92 million in cap space for next year. Bass is set to remain Buffalo's top placekicker for 2026, having converted 84.5 percent of his career field-goal attempts, including 69.6 percent from 50-plus yards, since entering the league in 2020.

Bills' Tyler Bass: Done for season
Coach Sean McDermott revealed Monday that Bass (left hip/groin) underwent surgery last week and will be sidelined for the rest of the season, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.
The Bills placed Bass on IR back on Sept. 5, and Matt Prater has handled the team's kicking duties since then. Bass, who is under contract with Buffalo through 2027, thus will turn his focus to rehabbing his injury with an eye toward being ready ahead of next season.

McDermott said, "We'll see -- going off the info from the medical team," when asked whether Bass will play this season, per Maddy Glab of the team's official site, though he did acknowledge that the kicker is trending in the right direction. Bass' 21-day practice window was eligible to open as early as Week 5, but at this stage a timetable for him to retake the field remains uncertain. Bass was eligible to have his 21-day practice window opened as early as last week, but Buffalo has yet to instigate such a transaction. Bass converted three of four field-goal attempts and made both extra-point tries in the Bills' 23-19 preseason win over the Buccaneers on Saturday night.
Bass had missed the Bills' first two preseason tilts due to a pelvic injury, but the veteran kicker looked to be in midseason form in his first game action of any kind since January. Bass connected on attempts from 37, 37 and 39 yards before misfiring on his shortest try of the night, a 26-yarder late in the fourth quarter that he missed wide right. Chris Brown of the team's official site reports head coach Sean McDermott confirmed Bass was limited to a distance of 48 yards in his first game back, but added that the coaches would "continue to bring him along this week." Given Saturday's performance, Bass looks set to reprise his fantasy-friendly role as the Bills' placekicker beginning with a Week 1 Sunday night home showdown against the Ravens.
