  • Nate Stanley: Cut by Minnesota

The Vikings waived Stanley (undisclosed) on Tuesday.

Stanley's dismissal leaves Kirk Cousins, Sean Mannion and Kellen Mond as the quarterbacks left on Minnesota's offseason roster. As a rookie seventh-round draft pick in 2020, Stanley spent his first professional season on Minnesota's practice squad. He resided on the Vikings' injured reserve list for the entirety of the 2021 campaign.

  • Vikings' Nate Stanley: Reverts to injured reserve

Stanley (undisclosed) reverted to Minnesota's injured reserve Wednesday, per the NFL's official transactions report.

The Vikings waived Stanley with an injury designation Tuesday, and after going unclaimed, he's now back on the team's IR. Stanley will remain on IR for all of 2021 barring an injury settlement, while Minnesota heads into the regular season with Kellen Mond as the primary backup to Kirk Cousins.

  • Nate Stanley: Waived with injury tag

Stanley (undisclosed) was waived/injured by the Vikings on Tuesday.

If Stanley clears waivers, he'll revert to injured reserve where he'll remain for the rest of the season unless he reaches an injury settlement with the team. Kellen Mond will serve as the backup quarterback behind Kirk Cousins this season.

  • Vikings' Nate Stanley: Activated from COVID-19 list

The Vikings activated Stanley (undisclosed) from the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday, Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com reports.

Stanley and starting quarterback Kirk Cousins will both be able to rejoin teammates at practice Thursday, but Kellen Mond, who tested positive for the virus, remains on the COVID list. Stanley missed a bit less than a week while going through the league's COVID protocols.

  • Vikings' Nate Stanley: In COVID protocols

Stanley (undisclosed) is unavailable while going through the COVID-19 protocols, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Kellen Mond tested positive for the virus, and Stanley and starter Kirk Cousins are also caught up in the protocols as apparent close contacts. Jake Browning will take all the reps at quarterback as the only available player at the position.

  • Vikings' Nate Stanley: Inks future deal

The Vikings signed Stanley to a reserve/future contract Monday, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

The Vikings selected Stanley in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft. The Iowa product was unable to make the team and instead resided on the practice squad all season. The 23-year-old will compete to be Kirk Cousin's backup in 2021.

  • Nate Stanley: Moves to practice squad

The Vikings signed Stanley to the practice squad Tuesday, Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

The Vikings opted to sign both Stanley and fellow signal-caller Jake Browning to the practice squad. Both quarterbacks had been waived by the team this weekend amid roster cuts.

  • Nate Stanley: Cast aside by Vikings

Stanley was waived by the Vikings on Saturday, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

The 2020 seventh-round selection was always viewed as a likely practice squad candidate, so this designation shouldn't be entirely surprising. Stanley certainly has plenty of tools to develop into an athletic quarterback and is expected to get that opportunity to grow on the Vikings' practice squad.

  • Vikings' Nate Stanley: Minnesota adds in seventh

The Vikings selected Stanley in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft, 244th overall.

Stanley (6-foot-4, 235) is a big and fairly toolsy quarterback, and he's arguably a bargain this late in the draft after starting three years at Iowa. The only problem with Stanley is that, after breaking out for 26 touchdown passes and six interceptions as a sophomore, he never really showed any improvement from there.
