Top Cole Van Lanen News

  • Jaguars' Cole Van Lanen: DNP in walkthrough

Van Lanen (knee) did not participate in Wednesday's walkthrough practice, Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union reports.

Van Lanen left last Sunday's win over the Titans late in the fourth quarter with a knee injury. The left tackle's status for Sunday's wild-card game against the Bills will likely be determined by the results of Thursday and Friday's practices. If Van Lanen is unable to upgrade his participation and must sit out Sunday's game, Walker Little would likely start at tackle opposite Anton Harrison.

  • Jaguars' Cole Van Lanen: Hurts knee Sunday

Van Lanen left Sunday's 41-7 win versus the Titans with a knee injury, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports.

Van Lanen left the game in the middle of the fourth quarter when Jacksonville already held a 27-point lead, so any ding or bruise might have been sufficient reason for the Jaguars to reel in their starting left tackle. His status will be worth keeping an eye on as Jacksonville gets ready to host its first postseason game since 2022.

  • Jaguars' Cole Van Lanen: Inks three-year extension

The Jaguars signed Van Lanen to a three-year, $51 million extension Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

According to Schefter, the deal contains $32.5 million guaranteed and can be worth up to $55 million. Selected in the sixth round of the 2021 Draft by the Packers, Van Lanen was traded to Jacksonville following his rookie season and started just three games across his first four NFL seasons. Van Lanen, however, started at left guard in Week 10 this season and never looked back. He started Weeks 11 and 12 at right tackle and has played the past four games at left tackle. Van Lanen has played every position on the offensive line outside of center. Van Lanen is now signed through the 2028 season.

  • Jaguars' Cole Van Lanen: Practices in full Wednesday

Van Lanen (shoulder) was a full participant in Jacksonville's practice Wednesday.

Van Lanen is healthy again after having missed the team's Week 1 victory over the Panthers with a shoulder injury. He will likely serve as the backup right tackle behind Anton Harrison for Sunday's matchup versus the Bengals.

  • Jaguars' Cole Van Lanen: Won't play vs. Carolina

Van Lanen (shoulder) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Panthers.

Van Lanen was held out of training camp practices for all of August after suffering a shoulder injury. He managed to return to practice this past week in a limited capacity, but he has not progressed enough in his recovery to play Sunday. Van Lanen's next opportunity to play is Week 2 against the Bengals on Sunday, Sept. 14.

  • Jaguars' Cole Van Lanen: Back at practice

Van Lanen (shoulder) returned to practice Thursday, Mark Long of the Associated Press reports.

Van Lanen was injured at the start of training camp, but he appears to be healthy enough now leading up to the Jaguars' Week 1 opener in 10 days. A sixth-round pick in 2021, Van Lanen appeared in nine regular-season contests last season.

  • Jaguars' Cole Van Lanen: Done for camp

Van Lanen (shoulder) is out for the rest of training camp, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.

The injury could deal a serious blow to Van Lanen's chances of securing a roster spot after signing a one-year deal in April. Van Lanen suited up nine times for the Jaguars during the 2024 regular season and made the first three starts of his NFL career in the process.

  • Jaguars' Cole Van Lanen: Returning to action

Van Lanen (hamstring) will play Sunday against the Texans.

Van Lanen missed the team's Week 4 loss to the Eagles, but after he was able to log limited practices all week, he'll get to suit up against Houston. He should help provide depth to the Jaguars offensive line Sunday.

  • Jaguars' Cole Van Lanen: Out for Week 4

Van Lanen (hamstring) is out for Sunday's game against the Eagles, Demetrius Harvey of the Florida Times-Union reports.

Van Lanen logged a limited practice Friday, but that won't be enough for him to suit up against the Eagles. He's served as depth at right guard to begin the season, so his absence shouldn't have a significant effect on the Jaguars' offense.
