Grace has been released by the Browns, Dan Labbe of Cleveland.com reports.

The linebacker logged six tackles in 12 games with the Falcons in 2019. He'll look to secure a depth role elsewhere now that the Browns have let him go.

  • Jermaine Grace: Let go by Falcons

  • Falcons' Jermaine Grace: Impressive preseason continues

Grace recorded six total tackles during Thursday's 22-10 loss to the Jets.

Falcons radio play-by-play commentators Wes Durham and Dave Archer marveled over the body of work that Grace has put on film during the preseason, and noted that he's done enough to this point to keep his name in consideration for a roster spot. Grace has accumulated a team-high 16 tackles in exhibition outings against the Broncos, Dolphins and Jets, while also accounting for half a sack and a 19-yard interception return.

  • Falcons' Jermaine Grace: Makes impact in preseason opener

Grace collected five tackles and half a sack during Thursday's 14-10 preseason loss to Denver.

Grace only appeared in one regular-season game last year (for Seattle), but it's performances like the one he put on Thursday night that could help him become a member of an active NFL roster in the near future. It could be in Atlanta that he gets that opportunity -- a place where he suited up for five games in 2017, and participated as a member of the practice squad in 2018. The primary barrier to him getting defensive snaps would be Bruce Carter, a veteran with 36 career starts who will be challenging to overcome for the backup middle linebacker job.

  • Jermaine Grace: Signed to Falcons' practice squad

Grace joined Atlanta's practice squad on Thursday, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. In a corresponding move, the team waived linebacker Richie Brown.

The second-year man returns to Atlanta, where he played five games and served as a member of the team's practice squad in 2017. More recently Grace had stints with the Browns and Seahawks, who waived the 24-year-old linebacker earlier this week. He'll provide developmental depth for a linebacker corps that has been depleted by an early-season injury to Deion Jones (foot).

  • Jermaine Grace: Waived by Browns

Grace was waived by the Browns on Sunday, Pat McManamon of ESPN reports.

Grace spent most of the offseason with the Browns but evidently was unable to distinguish himself at linebacker. He'll now head back to the free-agent market if he passes through waivers unclaimed.

  • Browns' Jermaine Grace: Claimed by Cleveland

The Browns claimed Grace off waivers Wednesday.

Grace split his rookie campaign between the Colts and Falcons, finishing with just three total tackles across 11 games. After the linebacker was waived by Indianapolis earlier in the week, the Browns have elected to kick the tires, though Grace will need a strong showing in training camp to have a realistic shot at making the 53-man roster.

  • Jermaine Grace: Released by Colts

Grace was released by the Colts on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Grace was claimed off waivers by the Colts last November, but he never managed to carve out a role in the team's defense after that point, appearing in just six games and racking up three total tackles.

  • Jermaine Grace: Waived by Falcons

Grace was waived Tuesday by the Falcons.

The Falcons signed Grace in the offseason as an undrafted free agent, but the linebacker was never able to carve out much of a role in the team's defense. Should he clear waivers, Grace will be eligible to sign with any team as a member of a 53-man roster or practice squad.

  • Colts' Jermaine Grace: Heads to Indy

Grace was claimed off waivers by the Colts on Wednesday, Stephen Holder of The Indianapolis Star reports.

Grace played in just five games for the Falcons this season since he dealt with a hamstring ailment. The Colts don't have a defensive role for him at this time, but as they progress in their rebuild, they likely believe he could be developed into a valuable asset.

  • Falcons' Jermaine Grace: Ready for Sunday's contest

Grace (hamstring) practiced without limitations Friday and will be ready for Sunday's game against the Patriots, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.

Grace hasn't seen the field since Week 2 against the Packers, when he played strictly in special teams scenarios. Top middle linebacker Deion Jones rarely leaves the field, so don't expect Grace to log many defensive snaps or serve as a relevant fantasy option.

  • Falcons' Jermaine Grace: Will sit Week 6

Grace is dealing with a hamstring injury and was ruled out for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.

Grace was a limited participant Friday after not practicing earlier in the week, but it apparently wasn't enough to convince the team he's ready to go. Starter Deion Jones is the Falcons' only other middle linebacker, so reserve weakside linebackers Duke Riley and Jordan Tripp are likely to serve as Jones' backup Sunday.
