  • Saints' Taysom Hill: Doesn't practice Wednesday

Coach Dennis Allen said Wednesday that Hill (chest) didn't practice Wednesday, but the Saints hope that he'll be limited at Thursday's session, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. Hill made an early exit from this past Sunday's win at Dallas due to a chest injury that resulted in him getting further evaluation at a local hospital. He was able to join his teammates for the flight back to New Orleans, and Allen told Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football on Monday that Hill "avoided anything serious." Even so, the team is exercising caution with Hill this week, but his ability to return to drills in the coming days could give him a chance to suit up Sunday against the Eagles.

  • Saints' Taysom Hill: Avoids significant injury

Hill (chest) avoided a major injury following additional testing at the hospital Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Hill was apparently feeling good Monday and "avoided anything serious," according to head coach Dennis Allen, per Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football. The tight end will go through the rehab process with his chest injury, and there's currently no update on his status for Sunday's Week 3 contest at home versus Philadelphia. More information on Hill's availability will likely come following the team's first practice of the week Wednesday.

  • Saints' Taysom Hill: Seems to have avoided major injury

Hill (chest) was released from the hospital Sunday night and is believed to have avoided a major injury in a Week 2 win over the Cowboys, but he will undergo further tests Monday, Ed Werder of Channel 8 Dallas reports. Hill was transported to a hospital for evaluation after being forced out of Sunday's 44-19 win at Dallas in the second half, but he was able to travel back to New Orleans on the Saints' charter. An estimated timeline for his return won't be given until after Monday's imaging. If Hill isn't able to play in Week 3 versus the Eagles, there likely isn't anyone on the roster who could fill his versatile role.

  • Saints' Taysom Hill: Getting evaluated at hospital

Coach Dennis Allen said after Sunday's 44-19 win at Dallas that Hill (chest) went to the hospital to be evaluated further, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. After going to the locker room in the second half, Hill was deemed doubtful to return to Sunday's contest. Allen wouldn't elaborate on Hill's chest issue, aside from calling the visit a precautionary measure. Hill ended Week 2 with three carries for 18 yards and one catch (on one target) for one yard.

  • Saints' Taysom Hill: Week 2 Waiver Priority List

Hill didn't have to do much in Week 1 against Carolina, and he only had five carries for 35 yards and caught one pass for 1 yard on two targets. He'll likely do more in a competitive game, which should happen in Week 2 at Dallas. I'm counting on Hill to be a potential starting Fantasy tight end in all leagues for the season, and he's worth adding for up to 15 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Saints' Taysom Hill: Handles rushing-centric role Week 1

Hill recorded five carries for 35 yards and caught one of his two targets for one yard during Sunday's 47-10 win versus the Panthers. Hill worked as the Saints' secondary rushing option to start the game, logging a two-yard carry on their second play from scrimmage. The 34-year-old finished with four carries and one target in the first quarter, and his playing time dwindled as the game got out of hand down the stretch. Backup running back Jamaal Williams logged more carries (11), but most of his touches came later in the second half when the game was essentially decided. Hill's early usage in the rushing game Sunday is a likely indicator of what his role could be under new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak this season. It will be worth monitoring if/how his deployment changes when New Orleans faces what should be a much tougher road matchup versus Dallas on Sunday, Sept. 15.

  • Saints' Taysom Hill: Could see increased touches Week 1

Multiple starting skill players for the Saints are dealing with lingering injuries, which could have Hill primed for a significant workload to start the regular season. Starting tight end Juwan Johnson has yet to practice this training camp after undergoing foot surgery in mid-June, and it's unclear if he'll be able to play Week 1. Running backs Alvin Kamara (back) and Kendre Miller (hamstring) are also both currently sidelined with injuries. Hill's versatility on offense means he should be one of the first options to pick up the slack if any three of these players miss time this season. The 34-year-old has traditionally been featured at tight end and quarterback -- especially as a rushing quarterback in power formations. Comments from Saints coach Dennis Allen this offseason have emphasized that Hill once again be a key piece of the offense, though Allen has also been unsurprisingly vague when discussing just how he'll fit into the system for new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. Hill's been spotted working more with the team's running backs and fullbacks during training camp and OTAs, suggesting that he could get even more usage in the backfield, and he also lined up at running back on one of his six snaps during last Saturday's preseason opener. Head coach Dennis Allen recently remarked Miller's extended absence could make it "challenging" for the second-year back to make the roster, according to Patrick Magee of the New Orleans Advocate, or at least hold a significant role early in the season. If that's the case, then Hill and fellow backup running back Jamaal Williams figure to step in as the team's No. 2 and No. 3 rushing options, respectively, to open the 2024 campaign.

  • Saints' Taysom Hill: Taking snaps in backfield

Hill has taken snaps as a running back, fullback and tight end during OTAs rather than getting direct snaps as a dual-threat quarterback, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Advocate reports. While Hill presumably will take direct snaps at some point, early signs suggest new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak prefers to use his versatile weapon as more of a hybrid tight end/running back/fullback/H-back. Former Saints coordinator Pete Carmichael rarely put Hill in the backfield unless he was taking the snap, instead using him as either a power-formation quarterback or spread-formation tight end. Hill scored between five and nine touchdowns each of the past five seasons, with last year's 692 yards from scrimmage representing a new career high, besting his 652 from 2022. His occasional outbursts -- often fueled by red-zone work -- have made Hill rather useful in leagues where he has tight end eligibility and the scoring is non-PPR and/or best ball. His lack of receptions compared to other tight ends has made him far less valuable in PPR formats, especially those that set lineups weekly, and that'll probably continue under Kubiak even if Hill's role changes a bit in his age-34 season. Many fantasy players will be less interested in Hill himself and more interested in how his role impacts the touchdown projections for quarterback Derek Carr and the Saints' other skill-position players.

  • Saints' Taysom Hill: Fills stat sheet Week 18

Hill logged six rushes for 51 yards and caught all four of his targets for 28 yards during Sunday's 48-17 win over the Falcons. Hill returned to form in the Saints' regular-season finale. The 33-year-old was inactive Week 14 with foot and hand injuries, and he totaled just eight touches across the previous three games. However, nothing slowed Hill down Week 18, as he logged his second-most total yards of any game this season. He didn't register any passing attempts Sunday, though this may have been due to a big night for starting quarterback Derek Carr, who completed 22 of 28 passing attempts for 264 yards and four touchdowns. Since the Saints were eliminated from playoff contention Week 18, Hill finishes the 2023 campaign with 81 carries for 401 rushing yards and four rushing scores. He also tallied career highs as a receiver with 33 catches (on 40 targets) for 291 yards and two touchdowns.

  • Saints' Taysom Hill: TEs to Sit

Hill caught a touchdown in Week 17 at Tampa Bay and finished with 11.5 PPR points, but he only had two targets and finished with two catches for 30 yards and the touchdown. He's disappeared as a rusher with five carries for 4 yards in his past three games, and it's tough to consider him a starter in the majority of leagues. We'll see if the Saints use Hill more as a rusher if Alvin Kamara (ankle) is out, but it seems risky given Hill's lack of touches in his past three games.

  • Saints' Taysom Hill: Limited outing in loss

Hill rushed twice for two yards and did not record a target or passing attempt during Thursday's 30-22 loss to the Rams. Hill played extremely limited snaps for the second week in a row, tallying 10 offensive snaps Thursday after appearing on just 12 snaps during the Week 15 win against the Giants. The 33-year-old logged a rushing attempt on the opening offensive series of each half for the Saints, but he did not factor into the team's game plan elsewhere. Hill missed the Week 14 win versus Carolina while tending to foot and hand issues, though he never appeared on the Week 16 injury report for any reason. He also tied for New Orleans' second-most rushing attempts Thursday, as the team was limited to just 16 total rushes while playing from behind for most of the night. Nevertheless, his stark dropoff in playing time recently, whether if be due to injury or overall offensive struggles, leaves little hope for his fantasy production as the Saints vie for a playoff spot over the final two weeks of the regular season.

  • Saints' Taysom Hill: Start Him in Non-PPR (Lineup Decisions)

Perhaps we should have been more cautious with Hill in his first game back from his foot injury -- last Sunday he played just 12 snaps and had a measly two touches with a pass attempt. He was as quick as ever in the game, nor did he shy away from contact. This week he's not on the Saints injury report, and the short week combined with very little usage the week before could spell an uptick in work. One problem: The Rams have been mostly terrific against the run in their past five games (3.9 yards per carry to running backs, which Hill should be classified as) with one rushing touchdown allowed (to Kyler Murray). There's no guarantee that Hill will be back to his usual snap count, which has been around 28.1 per game though his first 12, but if he's healthier than he should be more involved, especially in a short-week matchup. He remains start-worthy in non-PPR as a touchdown-needy tight end, good enough to go with over Darren Waller, Dalton Schultz and Kyle Pitts, but in PPR he should sit for those guys.

  • Saints' Taysom Hill: TEs to Sit

Hill was awful in Week 15 against the Giants, and we'll see if he can rebound in Week 16 at the Rams. Against New York, Hill failed to complete his lone passing attempt and had one carry for 1 yard while catching his only target for a 4-yard reception. I'm hopeful he was just rusty after sitting out Week 14 against Carolina with a foot injury, but Hill has now scored 8.1 PPR points or less in three of his past four games. Hill is only worth starting in deeper leagues against the Rams in Week 16.

  • Saints' Taysom Hill: Moderate role in easy win

Hill failed to complete his lone passing attempt and logged one rush for one yard while catching his only target for a four-yard reception during Sunday's 24-6 victory over the Giants. Hill had a very quiet outing Sunday after sitting out last week with foot and left hand injuries. When healthy this season, the 33-year-old has played a key role as a physical, bruising rusher behind running back Alvin Kamara. Instead, No. 2 running back Jamaal Williams carried the load with eight carries behind Kamara's 16 on Sunday. Hill logged his lone passing attempt, rush and target during the first half, as it appears the team didn't want to push him too hard during his first game back. His lone contribution in the second half came when he returned a kickoff for 18 yards. Hill should have an opportunity put up more production while serving his usual multi-purpose role when the Saints next play versus the Rams on Thursday Night Football.

  • Saints' Taysom Hill: Clear for Week 15

Hill (foot/left hand) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's contest against the Giants, Brooke Kirchhofer of NewOrleans.Football reports. Hill failed to practice at all before sitting out Week 14 versus the Panthers due to a combination of foot and left hand injuries. This time around, he opened the week with back-to-back capped sessions before getting back to all activity Friday, clearing the path for his return to action. Hill thus is slated to take on his usual gadget role in the Saints offense, which has amounted to 90 touches, eight passes, 647 yards (from scrimmage plus through the air) and six touchdowns overall in 12 appearances this season.

  • Saints' Taysom Hill: Logs limited practice Wednesday

Hill (foot/hand) practiced on a limited basis Wednesday, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. Hill's took part in his first on-field activity since he sat out all of last week due to foot and left hand injuries. On Wednesday, he didn't don a red non-contact jersey and also was working with Saints quarterbacks, per Brooke Kirchhofer of NewOrleans.Football. That said, New Orleans didn't include No. 1 quarterback Derek Carr on its injury report for the first time since Week 10 prep, so Hill may be relegated to his typical gadget role if he's able to put an end to a one-game absence Sunday versus the Giants.

  • Saints' Taysom Hill: Practicing Wednesday

Hill (foot/hand) took part in Wednesday's practice, Brooke Kirchhofer of NewOrleans.Football reports. Hill didn't practice last week before being inactive this past Sunday against the Panthers, so his ability to log some on-field work to start Week 15 prep generally is a good sign that he has a chance to return Sunday versus the Giants. He also was spotted without a non-contact red jersey while working with Saints quarterbacks. Wednesday's injury report will reveal whether Hill was a limited or full participant.

  • Saints' Taysom Hill: Questionable after missed practice

Hill (foot/hand) didn't practice in any fashion this week and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Panthers, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. Though Hill's third consecutive absence from practice Friday was less than encouraging, the Saints aren't yet closing the door on him being ready to play ahead of the 1 p.m. ET kickoff this Sunday. He's been a huge part of the offense of late -- in part due to injuries at receiver -- and the Saints certainly could use Hill's help this Sunday with Chris Olave (illness), Rashid Shaheed (thigh) and tight end Juwan Johnson (quadricep) all listed as questionable. Head coach Dennis Allen said Hill's foot injury is the real concern, not his left hand, per Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football.

  • Saints' Taysom Hill: Idle for another practice

Hill (foot/hand) wasn't on the field for Thursday's practice, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports. Now that he's missed the Saints' first two Week 14 practices, Hill will likely need to get back on the field Friday in some capacity to put himself in a position to be available Sunday against the Panthers. Hill is coming off a busy Week 13 loss to the Lions in which he played 28 snaps and took a season-high 13 carries for 59 yards and a touchdown while throwing two incompletions and reeling in his two targets for 15 receiving yards. With the status of Derek Carr (concussion/rib/shoulder) uncertain for Sunday, Hill could end up taking more reps under center than usual if he's able to overcome his own pair of injuries, though Jameis Winston would likely serve as the Saints' primary quarterback if Carr can't play.

  • Saints' Taysom Hill: TEs to Start

Hill was a Fantasy star once again in Week 13 against Detroit with 13 carries for 59 yards and a touchdown, and he caught two passes for 15 yards on two targets. He should do damage against the Panthers in Week 14 on the ground since Carolina has one of the worst run defenses in the NFL, and Hill should also see time under center with Derek Carr (concussion) not expected to play. Hill has the chance to be a top-five tight end in all leagues.
