Packers' Desmond Ridder: Serving as emergency QB
Ridder (coach's decision) is inactive but will serve as the Packers' emergency third quarterback during Saturday's wild-card matchup versus the Bears, Mike Spofford of the team's official site reports.
Ridder will serve as the team's No. 3 quarterback after being signed to the active roster from the practice squad earlier in the week. He is prohibited from playing unless both Jordan Love and Malik Willis were to exit the game due to injury, illness or ejection.

Packers' Desmond Ridder: Joins active roster
Green Bay signed Ridder off the practice squad Tuesday.
Ridder replaces Clayton Tune as the Packers' QB3 behind Jordan Love and Malik Willis (shoulder) after Tune completed just six of 11 passes for 34 scoreless yards in Sunday's regular-season finale against Minnesota.

Desmond Ridder: Signing with Green Bay
Ridder signed with the Packers' practice squad Wednesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Ridder spent last summer with the Bengals and then spent several weeks with the Vikings in two separate stints this season before being let go earlier this month. He'll operate as organizational depth in Green Bay while Jordan Love (concussion) and Malik Willis (shoulder) work on getting healthy.

Desmond Ridder: Cut loose by Minnesota
The Vikings cut Ridder from the practice squad Tuesday.
Ridder signed with the Vikings last Thursday due to the injuries to starter J.J. McCarthy (concussion) and backup Carson Wentz (shoulder). With McCarthy likely to clear the league's concussion protocol this week, the Vikings seem to have lost the need for Ridder's depth. If J.J. McCarthy is indeed cleared to play, Max Brosmer will once again be the only healthy backup quarterback on the roster.

Desmond Ridder: Joins Minnesota practice squad
Ridder signed with the Vikings' practice squad Thursday.
The quarterback was with the team earlier in the season when J.J. McCarthy was sidelined with an ankle injury, but he was waived in early October. With McCarthy now working through the concussion protocol and Carson Wentz out for the year with a shoulder injury, Ridder is back. Max Brosmer is taking first-team reps for the Vikings this week, though McCarthy did practice on a limited basis Wednesday.

Desmond Ridder: Let go by Vikings
Minnesota waived Ridder on Saturday.
Ridder joined the team in September after J.J. McCarthy suffered an ankle injury but didn't see any playing time. The Vikings are now left with Carson Wentz and Max Brosmer as the only healthy quarterbacks on their roster for Sunday's game versus the Browns.

Vikings' Desmond Ridder: Emergency QB for Week 3
Ridder (coach's decision) is inactive but will serve as the Vikings' emergency third quarterback against the Bengals on Sunday.
Ridder wasn't able to make the Bengals' 53-man roster at the end of training camp, but he caught on with the Vikings this past Tuesday to provide depth at quarterback due to J.J. McCarthy (ankle) being sidelined. As the emergency third quarterback, Ridder is prohibited from playing Sunday unless Carson Wentz and Max Brosmer were both to leave the game due to injury, illness or ejection.

Vikings' Desmond Ridder: Joining Minnesota
Ridder agreed to a contract with the Vikings on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy (ankle) will avoid a stint on injured reserve, but since he's considered week-to-week and is likely to miss multiple games, the Vikings will bring Ridder aboard to bolster their depth under center. Carson Wentz looks on track to replace McCarthy as the Vikings' starter beginning with Sunday's game against the Bengals, but Ridder could displace undrafted rookie Max Brosmer for the top backup job. A 2022 third-round pick, Ridder has made 25 appearances (18 starts) through his first three NFL seasons between stops with the Falcons and Raiders, completing 63.6 percent of his passes for 6.8 yards per attempt and a 16:14 TD:INT while adding 293 yards and five scores on the ground.
