Vikings' Zavier Scott: Inefficient on ground as rookie
Scott concluded the 2025-26 season with 32 carries for 114 yards and no touchdowns along with 14 catches on 16 targets for 98 yards and a touchdown over 16 games.
Scott took on a significant role early in the campaign when starting RB Aaron Jones missed time due to a hamstring injury. While Scott worked behind Jordan Mason and logged double-digit offensive snaps Weeks 3 to 5, he didn't do much with the opportunity, tallying a combined 49 rushing yards on 15 totes. He did add 63 yards on seven receptions during that span, but most of his receiving output came in Week 4, when he posted a 6-43-1 line versus Pittsburgh. Overall, Scott registered a meager 3.6 yards per carry as a rusher, which doesn't exactly inspire confidence in his ability to ascend to a lead back. It's still impressive that Scott was able to see a decent amount of work after going undrafted, and he showed acumen as a pass catcher with 14 grabs on 16 targets, but he figures to remain in a depth role in 2026 if he returns to Minnesota (he'll be a restricted free agent this offseason).

Vikings' Zavier Scott: Limited to special teams Thursday
Scott didn't play a snap on offense in Thursday's 23-10 win over the Lions, though he logged 10 snaps on special teams and made two tackles.
With Jordan Mason (ankle) unable to play Thursday, there was some expectation that Scott could move into the RB2 role. Instead, that assignment went to Ty Chandler, who was just activated from IR on Tuesday and was available for the first time since Week 1. Even as the Vikings went to a run-heavy game plan on Christmas Day, Scott didn't log an offensive snap, with Aaron Jones (18-53-1) and Chandler (7-24-0) handling all of the RB reps. Even if Mason remains out to action for the season finale against the Packers next Sunday, it doesn't look like Scott will be targeted for a big role (unless the out-of-contention Vikings decide to rest vets like Jones and/or Chandler).

Vikings' Zavier Scott: Slated for RB2 duties sans Mason
Scott will serve as the Vikings' RB2 behind Aaron Jones against the Lions on Thursday after Jordan Mason (ankle) was ruled out.
Scott has served mostly on special teams this season, but he did play a larger role on offense from Weeks 3 to 5, which coincided with Jones' absence due to a hamstring injury. With Mason sidelined, Jones and Scott will lead the Vikings' rushing attack Christmas Day, and Ty Chandler is also available to provide depth in the backfield.

Vikings' Zavier Scott: Three touches as Mason goes down
Scott rushed twice for four yards and caught his only target for eight yards in Sunday's 16-13 win over the Giants.
Scott looked poised to work as Minnesota's lead back after both Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason exited due to first-quarter ankle injuries, but Jones returned and handled a workhorse role, finishing with 23 touches to Scott's three. If Jones' injury impacts his availability for Thursday's game against the Lions and Mason remains sidelined, Scott could find himself handling an increased workload.

Vikings' Zavier Scott: No snaps on offense in Week 15
Scott played all three of his snaps on special teams in Sunday's 34-26 win over the Cowboys.
Scott picked up three carries in garbage time of last week's 31-0 win over the Commanders, but the Vikings leaned exclusively on Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason out of the backfield in a more competitive Week 15 contest. Unless one of Jones or Mason misses a game due to injury, Scott is unlikely to have much of a role on offense, if any, over the final three weeks of the season.

Vikings' Zavier Scott: Gets three carries in blowout win
Scott had three carries for 15 yards and one reception for five yards on his lone target in Sunday's 31-0 win over Washington.
Scott had three carries in a second consecutive game, but only because both were blowouts (in opposite directions). He had no carries or targets the four games before, as he's unlikely to see any action on offense if both Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason are healthy.

Vikings' Zavier Scott: Thrust into more prominent role
Scott rushed three times for 17 yards and caught his only target for four yards in Sunday's 26-0 loss to Seattle.
Scott was thrust into a more significant role in the second half against the Seahawks after Aaron Jones (shoulder) exited the game and did not return. Scott hadn't garnered a carry since Week 8, and he was able to produce an inspiring 5.7 yards per tote in Week 13. If Jones is forced to miss any action moving forward, Scott will likely operate as the team's primary pass-catching back while in a timeshare with Jordan Mason in Minnesota's backfield.

Vikings' Zavier Scott: Limited to special teams
Scott played 13 snaps, all on special teams, in Sunday's win at Detroit.
When Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason are healthy, Scott will have a limited role on offense. Scott didn't play on offense after Jones hurt his shoulder in the game but could figure back into the mix if Jones is sidelined next week against Baltimore.

Vikings' Zavier Scott: Gets time late in blowout loss
Scott had two carries for 16 yards and two receptions for eight yards on two targets in Sunday's loss to the Chargers.
With Aaron Jones back from a hamstring injury, Scott worked as the No. 3 running back. He got playing time only after the game became a blowout loss as all of his touches on offense came late in the fourth quarter. He's likely to have a very small role on offense if Jones and Jordan Mason are healthy.

Vikings' Zavier Scott: Active Thursday, but Jones is back
Scott (wrist) is listed as active Thursday at the Chargers.
Scott emerged from this past Sunday's loss to the Eagles with a wrist injury and then logged a pair of limited walkthroughs before the Vikings tagged him as questionable for Week 8 action. While he'll be available to Minnesota's backfield, he'll be welcoming back Aaron Jones (hamstring) for the first time since Week 2 after the veteran was activated from IR and now is active for Thursday's game. Scott very well could be the third RB behind Jordan Mason and Jones moving forward.
