Saints' Tyler Shough: Considered 2026 starter by Saints
Rotowire
New Orleans is committed to Shough as the team's starting quarterback for the 2026 season, Katherine Terrell of ESPN reports.
Shough looked impressive in the second half of the 2025 campaign, as he took over for Spencer Rattler (finger) as the team's starting quarterback midway through Week 8's game against the Buccaneers. Across 10 regular season appearances since, Shough completed 225 of 325 pass attempts for 2,384 yards, 10 touchdowns and eight interceptions, while also rushing 45 times for 186 yards and another three scores. He also played three offensive snaps versus Seattle in Week 3 and failed to complete either of his two pass attempts. New Orleans currently holds the No. 8 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, but it appears the team considers Shough a potential long-term answer at quarterback and will focus on improving his supporting cast during the coming offseason.

Saints' Tyler Shough: Strong finish to rookie campaign
Rotowire
Shough completed 23 of 35 passes for 259 yards with one touchdown and one interception while rushing three times for 34 yards and another score in the Saints' 19-17 loss to the Falcons on Sunday.
Shough was able to head into the offseason with yet another encouraging outing, capping off a second half of the season in which the 2025 second-round pick cemented himself as the Saints' starter heading into 2026. Shough opened New Orleans' scoring with a one-yard run late in the second quarter, and he went on to add a 16-yard scoring toss with just over a minute remaining that featured a nifty one-handed catch from Ronnie Bell. Shough finished his rookie season having completed 67.6 percent of his passes for 2,384 yards and a 10:6 TD:INT while adding a 45-186-3 rushing line across 11 games.

Saints' Tyler Shough: Week 18 Waiver Priority List
Rotowire
Shough is on fire heading into Week 18 with at least 19.1 Fantasy points in five games in a row and in six of his past seven outings. The one game where he failed to reach that total was in Week 12 against Atlanta, but I would start him in all leagues against the Falcons in the rematch. Shough has consecutive games of at least 300 passing yards, and Atlanta has allowed three of the past four quarterbacks prior to Week 17 to score at least 23.2 Fantasy points.

Saints' Tyler Shough: Nearly perfect in Week 17 win
Rotowire
Shough completed 22 of 27 passes for 333 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions while rushing four times for six yards in the Saints' 34-26 win over the Titans on Sunday. He also committed a fumble recovered by New Orleans.
Shough stuck to a tight circle of six targets overall and was once again operating short-handed in his pass-catching corps, considering Mason Tipton (groin) was inactive. Nevertheless, the rookie brought the Saints back from an early 13-0 deficit with the help of 19- and 10-yard touchdown passes to Chris Olave and Kevin Austin, respectively. Shough's first pair of career 300-yard performances have come in the last two games, and he'll aim to close out what has turned into a highly promising rookie season in a Week 18 road matchup against the Falcons.

Saints' Tyler Shough: Sleeper QBs
Rotowire
Shough is playing well coming into Week 17 at Tennessee with at least 19.1 Fantasy points in four games in a row and in five of his past six outings. He just had his first 300-yard game in Week 16 against the Jets (308), and he has two games in his past three outings with at least 32 rushing yards. This week, Shough is facing a Titans defense that has allowed four of the past five opposing quarterbacks to score at least 21.7 Fantasy points, and the only team below that total was Kansas City in Week 16 without Patrick Mahomes (knee). I like Shough as a low-end No. 1 Fantasy quarterback in all leagues.

Saints' Tyler Shough: Week 17 Waiver Priority List
Rotowire
Shough scored 19.1 Fantasy points in Week 16 against the Jets, and he has scored at least that total in four games in a row and in five of his past six outings. The Titans are No. 9 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks, and Shough is worth using as a low-end No. 1 Fantasy option in all leagues in Week 17.

Saints' Tyler Shough: First 300-yard passing performance
Rotowire
Shough completed 32 of 39 pass attempts for 308 yards and a touchdown while rushing twice for eight yards in Sunday's 29-6 win over the Jets.
Shough posted the first 300-yard passing performance of his NFL career, pushing past his previous career high of 282 passing yards. The highlight of the rookie second-round pick's impressive performance was a 23-yard touchdown pass to Chris Olave in the third quarter, as Shough carried the offense with his arm while the Saints played with a depleted backfield. Shough and the Saints will take a three-game winning streak into an eminently winnable Week 17 road game against the Titans.

Saints' Tyler Shough: Sleeper QBs
Rotowire
I'm excited to see if Shough can stay hot in Week 16, and he's worth using as a low-end starting option in deeper leagues against the Jets. Shough has scored at least 20.1 Fantasy points in three games in a row and in four of his past five outings coming into this game. He also has 87 rushing yards and two touchdowns in his past two games against Tampa Bay and Carolina, and he might have to run more against the Jets with Alvin Kamara (knee) and Devin Neal (hamstring) out. The Jets just allowed Trevor Lawrence to score 54.3 Fantasy points in Week 15, and Shough could be a good replacement option if you're stuck at quarterback in this scoring period.

Saints' Tyler Shough: Adds/Streamers (QB Preview)
Rotowire
There is not a QB available in even 30% of CBS leagues that ranks inside my top 18 this week. You do not want to stream a quarterback in Fantasy playoffs. But I understand some of you lose Patrick Mahomes last week and still advanced. If you have no other options, I would stream Tyler Shough before Gardner Minshew or Marcus Mariota. Shough has scored 20 Fantasy points in three straight starts, and he has a home game against the Jets, who just gave up 53 points to Trevor Lawrence.

Shough is playing well heading into Week 16 against the Jets with at least 20.1 Fantasy points in three games in a row and four of his past five outings. He has 87 rushing yards and two touchdowns in his past two games against Tampa Bay and Carolina, and he might have to run more against the Jets if Alvin Kamara (knee) and Devin Neal (hamstring) are out. The Jets just allowed Trevor Lawrence to score 54.3 Fantasy points in Week 15, and Shough is worth using as a low-end starter in deeper leagues.

Saints' Tyler Shough: Week 15 Waiver Priority List
Rotowire
Shough had another solid Fantasy outing in Week 14 at Tampa Bay with 21.3 points, and he now has at least that total in three of his past four games. He has a favorable upcoming schedule against Carolina in Week 15 (he scored 22.9 Fantasy points at Carolina in Week 10), the Jets in Week 16 and Tennessee in Week 17, and Shough might be worth using as a borderline starter in deeper leagues to close the year. He's worth adding for 1 percent of your remaining FAB.

Saints' Tyler Shough: Sleeper QBs
Rotowire
Shough has scored at least 21.4 Fantasy points in two of his past three games heading into Week 14 at Tampa Bay, and hopefully, he'll have another productive outing in this matchup. I like him as a low-end starter in deeper leagues. The Buccaneers are No. 6 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks, and four guys in a row have scored at least 22.1 Fantasy points against Tampa Bay. Shough is risky, but he's seemingly found success connecting with Chris Olave, Juwan Johnson, and Devaughn Vele of late. And he will hopefully deliver another solid outing to help Fantasy managers in a desperate situation in Week 14.

Saints' Tyler Shough: Taking over as starting QB
Rotowire
Saints head coach Kellen Moore informed Shough that he will replace Spencer Rattler as the team's starting quarterback beginning with Sunday's game against the Rams, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
A change at quarterback seemed inevitable after Rattler was benched for Shough midway through this past Sunday's 23-3 loss to the Buccaneers. After falling short in his bid for the starting job during training camp and the preseason, Shough, a second-round pick in April's draft, had come on in relief of Rattler in two games through the first eight weeks of the season, completing 17 of 32 passes for 128 yards, no touchdowns and one interception while adding 12 yards on three carries. Listed at 6-foot-5 and 219 pounds, Shough brings ideal size and a strong throwing arm, but he offers less rushing upside than Rattler and wasn't especially accurate in passer-friendly offenses at Texas Tech and Louisville during his collegiate career. The Saints could look to lean heavily on an Alvin Kamara-led ground attack to help ease the 26-year-old rookie in during his first NFL start.

Saints' Tyler Shough: Solid showing in preseason finale
Rotowire
Shough completed 12 of 20 passes for 102 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and rushed twice for 20 yards and a score during the Saints' 28-19 preseason loss to the Broncos on Saturday afternoon. He also lost a fumble.
Shough came into the game on the Saints' fourth possession after Spencer Rattler handled the first three drives and led New Orleans to six points. Shough put together an encouraging preseason overall that saw him complete 66.7 percent of his passes while throwing for a touchdown, in addition to Saturday's 11-yard scoring scamper early in the fourth quarter that capped off an impressive 12-play, 77-yard march. Consequently, the rookie second-round pick has seemingly done everything he can to make his case over Rattler for the starting quarterback job to open the campaign, and coming days will tell whether or not his efforts were successful.

Saints' Tyler Shough: To be second QB up Saturday
Rotowire
Shough will serve as the No.2 quarterback behind Spencer Rattler during Saturday's preseason finale against the Broncos, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Shough was outplayed by Rattler during New Orleans' 17-17 preseason tie against Jacksonville on Sunday, in which he got the start but completed just nine of 12 pass attempts for 66 yards across four possessions. While head coach Kellen Moore confirms that starting Rattler on Saturday doesn't indicate that a decision for Week 1 has been made, per Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, Shough will certainly need to perform better versus Denver in order to make his case for opening the regular season under center. Across his two preseason showings combined, the rookie second-round pick has completed 24 of 34 pass attempts for 231 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Saints' Tyler Shough: Moore mum on Week 1 starter
Rotowire
Head coach Kellen Moore said Tuesday that he has not decided on who will be the Saints' starting quarterback for Week 1 against the Cardinals, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
After serving as the backup behind Spencer Rattler in the preseason opener against the Chargers, Shough drew the start in Sunday's game against the Jaguars. Shough didn't do much to make his case, going 9-for-12 for 66 yards and leading New Orleans to just one field goal on four possessions. It's unclear who Moore will go with as the starter for the Saints' preseason finale against the Broncos on Saturday, but that game will be the last opportunity for Shough to win the QB1 job before the start of the regular season.

Saints' Tyler Shough: Modest numbers in preseason start
Rotowire
Shough completed nine of 12 passes for 66 yards in Sunday's 17-17 preseason tie against the Jaguars.
Shough got the start but led the Saints to only three points on four first-half drives. Spencer Rattler, who started the team's first preseason game against the Chargers, had 199 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception in the second half Sunday. The quarterback competition between the 2025 second-round pick Shough and the 2024 fifth-rounder Rattler likely won't be decided until after the Saints' preseason finale against the Broncos on Saturday.

Saints' Tyler Shough: Will start vs. Jaguars
Rotowire
Saints head coach Kellen Moore said Saturday that Shough will start Sunday's preseason game against Jacksonville.
Shough worked as the backup to Spencer Rattler during New Orleans' preseason opener against the Chargers, completing 15 of 22 pass attempts for 165 yards, one touchdown and one interception, but the rookie second-round pick will get a chance to start versus the Jaguars, who will field starters on both offense and defense. A strong showing versus Jacksonville's first-team defense would be significant in bolstering Shough's chances of winning the Week 1 starting job, but it wouldn't be a surprise at all if Moore holds off on making such a decision until after the team's preseason finale against Denver on Saturday, Aug. 23.

Saints' Tyler Shough: Mixed results as backup Sunday
Rotowire
Shough completed 15 of 22 pass attempts for 165 yards, one touchdown and one interception with one rushing attempt for three yards in Sunday's 27-13 preseason loss to the Chargers.
Shough entered Sunday's exhibition behind Spencer Rattler (7-for-11, 53 yards) but wound up producing the preferred stat line while operating the second-string offense. Both inexperienced arms committed a turnover apiece while playing roughly a combined three quarters of action. This is truly shaping up to be a tight competition for the starting gig in New Orleans come Week 1. It wouldn't be surprising to see Shough get the nod under center against the Jaguars next Sunday in order to give both players a fair shake at being evaluated this preseason.
