Woods signed with Cleveland's practice squad Wednesday.
Woods finished the preseason on a high note against the Seahawks on Saturday, when he caught five passes (on nine targets) for 53 yards and two touchdowns. It wasn't enough to push him onto the Browns' 53-man roster, but the 2022 sixth-round wideout will stick around in Cleveland on the taxi squad. He last saw NFL action in his rookie season, when he recorded five catches (on 10 targets) for 45 yards across 10 regular-season games.

Woods missed all of last season due to a ruptured Achilles he sustained in April 2023. He managed to return for training camp, and he finished the preseason strong with five catches on nine targets for 53 yards and two touchdowns against the Seahawks on Saturday. Despite the good outing, Woods was unable to crack Cleveland's 53-man roster as a depth wide receiver. The 2022 sixth-round pick could return to the team's practice squad if he clears waivers, or he may look for other opportunities elsewhere.

Whether there's a roster spot for Woods depends on how many wide receivers the Browns intend to keep and how significant David Bell's quadriceps injury is. If Bell is ready for the regular season opener, that would give Cleveland five likely locks. If they keep a sixth, then it would come down to Woods or Jamari Thrash, the latter of whom is a 2024 fifth-round draft pick that came on over the last two weeks.

Woods (Achilles) took part in Wednesday's OTA session, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Woods, who had his six-game suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy lifted in January, appears to have bulked up since last season. Additionally, the 2022 sixth-round pick appears to have moved past an Achilles injury that he sustained last April, costing him the entire 2023 season. Now that Woods is back on the field, he'll have an opportunity to compete for a depth role in a Cleveland wideout corps that's led by Amari Cooper, Jerry Jeudy, Elijah Moore and Cedric Tillman.

Browns' Michael Woods: Has suspension lifted
Woods (Achilles) had his suspension lifted by the NFL on Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Woods was given a six-game suspension in early December for violating the league's personal conduct policy, and he's now served his punishment for the required number of contests. The ban didn't impact his ability to take the field, as the wideout ruptured his Achilles in early April and was consequently ruled out for the season. Woods will look to be healthy enough to participate in training camp this summer.

While taking part in an offseason workout with quarterback Deshaun Watson (shoulder) in April, Woods suffered a ruptured Achilles, so he already was out for the season. Now, Woods won't get a paycheck for the final six games of the campaign following the suspension. Considering the timing of the injury, the 2022 sixth-round pick may be healthy by the start of the 2024 offseason program, with five catches (on 10 targets) for 45 yards in 10 career appearances to date.
