Panthers' Jaden Crumedy: Placed on IR with high-ankle sprain
The Panthers placed Crumedy (ankle) on injured reserve Thursday, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports.
Crumedy sustained a high-ankle sprain in the Panthers' preseason opener against the Patriots. The injury kept him out of Carolina's last two exhibition contests, and Crumedy will now be required to sit out for at least the first four games of the regular season. The rookie sixth-round pick is eligible to return for Week 5 against the Bears on Oct. 6.

Panthers' Jaden Crumedy: Dealing with high-ankle sprain
Crumedy sustained a high-ankle sprain in Thursday's 17-3 preseason loss to the Patriots, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Crumedy was carted off the field in the second quarter and finished the contest without recording a tackle. Given the severity of the injury, the rookie sixth-round pick will likely be unavailable for the last two games of the preseason and could be in jeopardy of missing the Panthers' regular-season opener against the Saints on Sept. 8. That opens the door for LaBryan Ray, Junior Aho and Jayden Peevy to play more snaps and compete for a depth spot at defensive end behind starters A'Shawn Robinson and Derrick Brown.

Panthers' Jaden Crumedy: Leaves game with ankle injury
Crumedy left Thursday's preseason game against the Patriots in the second quarter due to an ankle injury and is questionable to return, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.
After leaving the field, Crumedy was taken to the locker room in a cart, per Gantt. The rookie sixth-round pick did not record a tackle before exiting Thursday's game. Junior Aho is in line to see more reps at defensive end in Crumedy's absence.

Panthers' Jaden Crumedy: Selected by Carolina in Round 6
The Panthers selected Crumedy in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 200th overall.
Crumedy might be a lowly sixth-round pick, but the Mississippi State product still looks like a good selection for Carolina. Crumedy was a five-year starter as a six-year player in college, and at 6-foot-4, 301 pounds he demonstrated burst and speed that should fit well on passing downs if nothing else (4.97-second 40-yard dash). Worse prospects have turned out to be viable starting defensive tackles in the NFL.
