Mitch Van Vooren: Let go by New England
The Patriots waived Van Vooren on Tuesday.
Van Vooren signed with the Patriots near the start of training camp. The tight end was unable to make it with the Browns, being waived in August of 2025, while making it to a similar spot in the Patriots' 2026 training camp. Van Vooren will now be placed on waivers, and if he clears will become a free agent able to sign with any organization.

Patriots' Mitch Van Vooren: Signs with Pats
New England signed Van Vooren on Wednesday.
Van Vooren did not make the cut for the Browns' 53-man roster back in August of 2025, but he's now getting another chance to make an impression with a new club. He'll at least be able to give the team some practice reps at tight end after the Patriots placed Julian Hill (knee) on their injured reserve list back in June and placed CJ Dippre (undisclosed) on their active/PUP list to start training camp.

Van Vooren did not impress enough to land a spot on the team's final roster after having signed with them earlier this month. The rookie undrafted free agent will now look for another NFL opportunity and could be a candidate to land on Cleveland's practice squad.

The Browns signed Van Vooren to a contract Monday.
The undrafted free agent out of St. Norbert was let go by the Seahawks in mid-June, but Van Vooren will get another shot at making an NFL roster with the Browns. He's a longshot to make the Browns' 53-man roster in late August, but a strong training camp could give Van Vooren the opportunity to stick around on the team's practice squad.

Van Vooren signed with Seattle as an undrafted free agent June 4, but his time with the team didn't last long. Van Vooren had participated in rookie minicamp with Cleveland prior to signing with the Seahawks.
