Jets' Malik Taylor: Going on IR
The Jets placed Taylor on injured reserve with an undisclosed issue Sunday, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Taylor sustained an injury at an early point in training camp, according to Ethan Greenberg of the team's official site, though it's unclear exactly when or how this issue arose. The 28-year-old wideout appeared in three games while on the practice squad last year, securing two of four targets for 13 yards. Taylor previously looked like he had a solid chance to earn a spot on the final 53-man roster, but he'll now be forced to sit out the entire 2024 campaign unless he's let go from IR with an injury settlement.

Malik Taylor: Going back to practice squad
Taylor reverted to the Jets' practice squad Tuesday, per the NFL's transaction log.
In his second appearance this season Monday, Taylor turned two targets into one catch for seven yards. Zach Wilson and the Jets' passing offense have been dreadful through eight games this season, so any Jets pass catcher not named Garrett Wilson has essentially been radioactive for the purposes of fantasy.

Jets' Malik Taylor: One catch in Week 9 loss
Taylor caught one of two targets for seven yards in Monday's 27-6 loss to the Chargers.
Taylor was elevated from the practice squad for a second consecutive game and saw more involvement than he did in Week 8 against the Giants. The target he didn't catch was a deep ball on which Taylor failed to locate the football. New York's lack of depth at wide receiver could lead to more opportunities for Taylor moving forward, but he's unlikely to move the needle in fantasy.

Jets' Malik Taylor: Moves up from practice squad
The Jets elevated Taylor to the active roster Saturday.

He could see some playing time Sunday against the Giants on special teams and potentially as a depth wide receiver, with Randall Cobb (shoulder) and Irvin Charles (shoulder) both dealing with injuries.

Malik Taylor: Let go by Jets
The Jets cut Taylor with a non-football illness designation Tuesday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Taylor made some noise for the Jets in the preseason, so it may be that his current illness negatively impacted his chances of making the initial 53-man roster. Of course, the former Packer always faced long odds to stick beyond the offseason, given the team's depth at the position. From 2020-21, Taylor suited up for 25 games in Green Bay as a depth wideout.
