Jets' Garrett Wilson: One catch in first action with Smith
Wilson caught his only target for 10 yards in Friday's 17-0 preseason win over the Steelers.
The Jets' starters played the opening drive, which resulted in a touchdown. Geno Smith hit all seven of his pass attempts, including a 10-yard pass to Wilson to convert on third-and-6 in Pittsburgh territory. The offseason addition of Smith gives the Jets' entire passing game a higher ceiling heading into 2026, and Wilson remains the team's top WR.

Jets' Garrett Wilson: Returns to practice Tuesday
Wilson (illness) returned to practice Tuesday, Al Iannazzone of Newsday reports.
Wilson didn't practice Monday due to a stomach bug, but the wideout is back on the field one day later as the Jets' second preseason game (Friday against the Steelers) approaches. Wilson saw action in the team's exhibition opener, logging two catches for 32 yards on three targets while seeing 11 snaps, but it remains to be seen how much action he and the other starters will see over the final two preseason outings. Wilson is locked in as the Jets' No. 1 WR, and is on track to maintain steady volume in that role.

Jets' Garrett Wilson: Sits out practice with illness
Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said that Wilson didn't practice Monday due to a stomach bug, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
Assuming Wilson is able to move past the illness and regain strength within the next few days, his preparation for the start of the regular season shouldn't be dramatically affected. Wilson suited up for the Jets' preseason opener Friday against the Buccaneers and displayed a strong early connection with new starting quarterback Geno Smith, recording two catches for 32 yards on three targets in limited snaps.

Jets' Garrett Wilson: Shows nice rapport with backup QB
Wilson caught two of three targets for 32 yards in Friday's 24-16 preseason loss to the Buccaneers.
Geno Smith (foot) was supposed to start this game along with the rest of the Jets' first-team offense but was held out due to foot soreness, so rookie fourth-round pick Cade Klubnik got the nod under center. Wilson showed nice chemistry with Klubnik, as they linked up for gains of 21 and 11 yards on the opening drive. The Jets will likely try to get Smith and Wilson some game reps together during the preseason, with the next opportunity to do so coming next Friday against the Steelers.
