Tucker McCann: Released from IR
McCann (undisclosed) was released by the Titans from the injured reserve Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports.
The kicker was reverted to the IR after being waived Aug. 25 but was released Tuesday. He's never attempted a kick in the NFL and will now look to catch on elsewhere once he re-proves his health.

McCann (undisclosed) reverted to Tennessee's injured reserve after clearing waivers Wednesday, per the NFL's official transactions log.
McCann is now set to spend the entire 2021 season on IR with the Titans, unless he can reach an injury settlement. He spent time on the team's practice squad in 2020.

Titans' Tucker McCann: Perfect in preseason opener
McCann went 2-for-2 on field-goal attempts in the Titans' first preseason game against the Falcons on Friday.
McCann had struggled with consistency early in camp, according to reports. The team worked out a number of kickers and ultimately landed on Sam Ficken as McCann's primary competition as a result. However, McCann responded well in his first game action, knocking through his only two attempts of the game. He appears to be leading the battle for the kicker job at this point and will need to continue to show consistency to lock in the role.

Titans' Tucker McCann: Dealing with soreness
Coach Mike Vrabel said McCann is "pretty sore" after Friday's preseason win over Atlanta, Paul Kuharsky of PaulKuharsky.com reports.
McCann reportedly has struggled at training camp but made both of his field-goal attempts Friday night. It sounds like he also picked up a minor injury, with Vrabel saying he doesn't expect a lengthy absence. Fellow Titans kicker Sam Ficken made all three of his kicks in Friday's win, converting a 44-yard FG and two PATs. It looks like a close competition between the two kickers so far.

Titans' Tucker McCann: Inconsistent early in camp
McCann has been inconsistent early in camp and has made seven of his 11 field-goal attempts combined between Friday and Saturday's practices, Ben Arthur of The Tennessean reports.
McCann is competing with Blake Haubeil for the starting kicker position, though neither has stood out in a positive way early in camp. Coach Mike Vrabel indicated at the start of training camp that he was comfortable with the duo battling for the position, but the Titans worked out Sergio Castillo and Lirim Hajrullahu on Saturday to potentially add to the competition.

Titans' Tucker McCann: Will battle for starting job
Head coach Mike Vrabel said that McCann is in a position battle with Blake Haubeil to be the team's starting kicker, John Glennon of BroadwaySportsMedia.com reports.
McCann signed a reserve/future contract with Tennessee this offseason after spending the 2020 season on the team's practice squad. He lost out on the starting job to Stephen Gostkowski last campaign, though it appears that Gostkowski now is out of the picture. McCann was inconsistent early in his collegiate career, but he managed to make three field goals from more than 50 yards in his final two seasons combined. He has yet to attempt a kick in a regular-season game as a professional.

An undrafted rookie out of Missouri, McCann lost the kicking competition to Stephen Gostkowski during training camp, and he spent the rest of the season on the practice squad. McCann can also punt, so he could look to seek that role in 2021.

McCann was waived by the Titans on Saturday, Erik Bacharach of The Tennessean reports.
McCann and Greg Joseph were both cut after the team brought in All-Pro kicker Stephen Gostkowski, who quickly won the job in Tennessee. In his senior season at Missouri, McCann connected on just 16 of 22 field-goal attempts (73 percent), but he may be kept on the practice squad as an emergency backup.
