Giants' Tre Hawkins: Good to go
Hawkins (ankle) is active for Monday's matchup with the Steelers, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
An ankle injury led to a questionable designation for Hawkins heading into the evening, but he will ultimately play through the issue. The cornerback played 35.0 percent of defensive snaps in last week's loss to the Eagles. He figures to be in line for a similar workload in Pittsburgh assuming he avoids any setbacks.

Giants' Tre Hawkins: Questionable for Week 8
The Giants announced Saturday that Hawkins (ankle) is questionable for Monday's game against the Steelers, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
Hawkins played 35 percent of defensive snaps Week 7 versus the Eagles, and he appears to have picked up an ankle injury during the contest. If he's able to gain clearance for Monday Night Football, he'll figure to once again handle a depth role in New York's secondary.

Giants' Tre Hawkins: Has inconsistent role as rookie
Hawkins recorded 35 tackles (24 solo) and one defensed pass over 17 contests in 2023.
After the Giants took him in the sixth round of the 2023 draft, Hawkins made a good impression in training camp and began the campaign as the team's slot corner. However, he struggled through three games and was then replaced by sophomore Cor'Dale Flott. Hawkins got a few more opportunities to show off his skills during the campaign, including in Week 7 and Week 11 with Adoree' Jackson out of commission, but he ended the season getting no defensive snaps in four of New York's final six games. The Old Dominion product will likely get a chance to continue to grow next year, but he'd have to take a step forward to move beyond a depth role.

Giants' Tre Hawkins: Getting expanded role
Hawkins is expected to start at cornerback in place of Adoree' Jackson (concussion) on Sunday against the Commanders, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
Hawkins started his rookie campaign as the Giants' nickel corner, but he lost that job after three games and saw his workload reduced. Now, the Old Dominion product will get another chance in an expanded role against Washington.

Giants' Tre Hawkins: Showing out in camp
Hawkins has been getting some first-team reps in practice, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
Hawkins' first-team looks have mostly been the result of the coaching staff wanting to afford teammate Adoree' Jackson a breather. However, Hawkins has held his own against the first-team offense, as Duggan specifically notes him breaking up passes to Jalin Hyatt and Isaiah Hodgins during practice Tuesday. The Old Dominion product wasn't selected until the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, but he's making the most of his opportunities as he works to earn a role on the Giants' 53-man roster.

Giants' Tre Hawkins: Selected by G-Men
The Giants selected Hawkins in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, 209th overall.
Hawkins began his collegiate career at a community college in Kansas before finishing his final two years at Old Dominion. He was a starter in those last two seasons, breaking up a combined 16 passes while recording three picks. He's a raw prospect given his lack of experience with high-level competition, but he'll have the chance to make the Giants' roster with a role on special teams.
