Packers' Edgerrin Cooper: Clean bill of health for Week 1
Cooper (hip) does not carry an injury designation for the Packers' regular-season opener against the Eagles on Friday, Wes Hodkiewickz of the team's official site reports.
Cooper was limited in Tuesday's practice session, but he was able to practice without restrictions Thursday. The rookie-second round pick will get his first taste of NFL regular-season action Friday, and Cooper is slated to serve as the Eric Wilson's backup at middle linebacker.

Cooper has been nursing a groin injury for most of training camp. It remains to be seen how his health will progress before Friday's season opening matchup with the Eagles in Brazil, but the linebacker projects to back up Eric Wilson in the middle when healthy.

Cooper sustained a groin injury in early August, which has prevented him from participating in practices and preseason games. He has recovered enough to return to practice in a limited capacity, though the Packers could take the cautious route and keep him out of Saturday's preseason finale against the Ravens. As a rookie second-round pick, Cooper's spot on Green Bay's 53-man roster should be safe, and he'll likely serve primarily on special teams while operating in a backup role at linebacker.

Cooper exited practice early Wednesday due to a groin injury, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
Head coach Matt LaFleur downplayed the situation, calling it a "little groin injury" for Cooper. The rookie linebacker had an impressive showing during minicamp and was working to parlay that into a starting role during training camp. He'll now look to get healthy and return to the field so he can continue his quest for a prominent role on the Packers' defense.

Packers' Edgerrin Cooper: Making good impression early
Cooper logged a strong showing during mandatory minicamp in June and is trending toward securing a first-team role for training camp, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports.
Cooper, a rookie second-round pick, has a clear path to the Packers' starting middle linebacker spot following the departure of De'Vondre Campbell, so it's encouraging to already see him impressing his new coaching staff. Coach Matt LaFleur praised "how engaged [Cooper has] been and how locked in he's been throughout the course of the offseason," and by all accounts it looks like the former Texas A&M standout is quickly acclimating to new defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley's scheme. At 6-foot-2, 229 pounds, Cooper is slightly undersized compared to 2022 first-round pick Quay Walker, but he boasts enough athleticism to lean on as he bulks up. Veterans Isaiah McDuffie and Eric Wilson and rookie third-rounder Ty'Ron Hopper project to round out Green Bay's linebacker corps alongside Cooper and Walker.
