49ers' Thomas Morstead: Picked up by San Francisco
Morstead signed with the 49ers on Wednesday.
The 39-year-old was released by the Jets earlier in May, but he's already found a new home in San Francisco. Morstead has been in the NFL since 2009, receiving second-team All-Pro honors once across his 16-year career. He's now expected to serve as the 49ers' top punter and holder in 2025.

Thomas Morstead: Let go by Jets
The Jets released Morstead on Tuesday, Ethan Greenberg of the team's official site reports.
Morstead had spent the past two seasons in New York. The Jets are left with Kai Kroeger and Austin McNamara on the roster at punter, neither of whom have appeared in an NFL game.

Jets' Thomas Morstead: Staying in New York
The Jets re-signed Morstead to a two-year deal Wednesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN reports.
Morstead will now stay in New York for the next two years after first signing with the team a season ago. The 38-year-old played in 17 games during the 2023 campaign and averaged 48.8 yards on his 99 punts.
