Willie Young: Cut by Chicago
The Bears released Young (triceps) on Wednesday, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Young, who is set to turn 33 years old in September, is the second veteran outside linebacker the Bears have released this week after Pernell McPhee (shoulder) was handed his walking papers Monday. With no fewer than 6.5 sacks in his first three seasons in Chicago upon joining the team in 2014, Young was one of the top pass-rushing threats on the roster, but carried significant health concerns after having suffered a torn Achilles' tendon in 2015 and requiring season-ending surgery in October to address a torn triceps. Expect the Bears to make bolstering their outside-linebacker group a top priority in the offseason.

Bears' Willie Young: Entering last year of contract
Young (triceps) notched two sacks in four games before being placed on injured reserve in Week 5.
Young is signed with the Bears through 2018, and in his four years with the team he's recorded 26 sacks in 50 games. Should he make a healthy return to the lineup, he'll be a solid IDP option, based on his ability to pile up sacks.

Bears' Willie Young: Lands on IR
Young (triceps) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
This doesn't come as much of surprise, as it was expected that Young would need season-ending surgery. With Young out, Pernell McPhee is expected to take on his workload at outside linebacker, and the open roster spot will allow Danny Trevathan to return from his one-game suspension.

Bears' Willie Young: Will sit Monday
Young (triceps) is inactive for Monday night's game against the Vikings.
Young was listed as doubtful and has now been ruled out for the season with a torn triceps, according to Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune. Pernell McPhee is likely to receive much of the workload at outside linebacker in his absence.

Bears' Willie Young: Possibly out for season
Young (triceps) will likely require season-ending surgery, Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Young reportedly has a torn triceps that will require surgery, which would make him the third Bears defender to be lost for the season. The veteran outside linebacker is listed as doubtful for Monday night's game against the Vikings, but the Bears could take an extra day or two to evaluate things before making an official announcement.

Bears' Willie Young: Monday's status wildly up in air
Young (triceps) did not practice Saturday and is considered doubtful for Monday's divisional showdown with Minnesota, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports.
If Young can't play, the Chicago linebacking corps might be without three of its starting four linebackers. In such case, Phernell McPhee would be the likely replacement for Young.

Bears' Willie Young: Posts another sack in Sunday win
Young tallied two tackles and a sack in Sunday's 23-17 win over the Steelers.
Young continued his excellent start to the season by collecting one of the three sacks that Chicago was able to rack up against the talented offensive line of the Steelers. Although he doesn't post many tackles, he's collected a sack in each of his last two games, and that ability to get to the passer makes him a useful IDP option.

Bears' Willie Young: Registers sack in Sunday defeat
Young recorded a pair of tackles and a sack in Sunday's loss to the Buccaneers.
Young was able to record his first sack of the season despite Tampa Bay using a run-heavy approach in a blowout win. As a rotational player, he doesn't get enough consistent opportunities to be a strong IDP option.

Bears' Willie Young: Records sack in third preseason game
Young recorded a sack and a tackle in Sunday's win over the Titans.
Young was in the right place at the right time, as he earned his sack on a third-down play and had a free run at the quarterback as the offensive tackle was forced to pick between two oncoming pass rushers. Although he doesn't typically put up enough production on a consistent basis, he has upside as a streaming IDP option.

Bears' Willie Young: Expected to play Saturday
Young (groin) is expected to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Cardinals.
Young has had trouble with a strained groin in recent practices, so his availability for Saturday's exhibition suggests he's good to go moving forward. He's expected to slot in as a starting outside linebacker opposite the ascending Leonard Floyd.

Bears' Willie Young: Misses second consecutive practice Friday
Young missed his second straight practice Friday due to a strained groin, Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
As long as this doesn't turn into a long-term injury, Young will be counted upon as a rotational player who's excellent at pressuring opposing quarterbacks. He's notched 24 sacks over the past three seasons with the Bears, and with Pernell McPhee (knee) struggling with an injury of his own, Young could end up being a sneaky IDP option if McPhee misses significant regular-season action.

Browns' Kenny Britt: Back at practice Saturday
Britt (leg) was seen practicing Saturday after leaving Thursday's practice with cramps, Dan Labbe of Cleveland.com reports.
Britt rode the bike during Friday's practice but returned to full action Saturday and was able to haul in a few passes. It seems that his cramp issues are behind him, but the Browns may want to continue to monitor him, as he's expected to play a big role in the offense in 2017.

Browns' Kenny Britt: Leaves practice early Thursday
Britt was forced to leave practice prematurely Thursday due to cramping, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports.
A few other Browns' players dealt with cramps on Thursday as well, which is anything but surprising on the first day of training camp. Britt might take it easy for the next few days, but unless this becomes a continuous problem, there's no need to worry about his health.

Bears' Willie Young: Absent from Tuesday's practice
Young (knee) did not practice Tuesday, Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Although it wasn't confirmed, the assumption is Young's absence is related to his rehab progress. Young is coming off minor knee surgery, and it looks as if the Bears plan to ease him back into action rather than rush him before he's 100 percent healed.
