The NHL Daily Fix is your morning wakeup call with news and notes for the day's hockey action.
Morning Buzz |
• For the hit in the above video, Islanders forward Colin McDonald has himself a hearing with Brendan Shanahan on Wednesday morning. It was about the only thing the Isles did wrong in the 4-1 win over the Penguins in Pittsburgh.
• Is this the day the sale of the Phoenix Coyotes finally happens? Any sale would have to happen either Wednesday or Thursday, and Greg Jamison said he's going to make the deadline. (Phoenix Business Journal)
• Maple Leafs forward Mike Komisarek missed Tuesday's thrilling OT win over the Sabres because of a freak injury. Earlier in the day, he was ruled out after getting a piece of fiberglass stuck in his eye. That hurts just to type. (Sportsnet)
• If you're into a good heart-warming story -- and really, who isn't? -- then give this piece a read. Former Rangers star Adam Graves has a new friend in an 11-year-old girl fighting through chemotherapy. (ESPN New York)
• Former NHL enforcer Georges Laraque had his Quebec home raided by authorities on Tuesday in connection with a fraud case. It does not appear, though, it has anything to do with the controversial CHLPA. (CTV Montreal)
• The Washington Capitals lost again on Tuesday night, blowing a two-goal, first-period lead to the Ottawa Senators and getting no points. That's just one win in their first six games. While it's not completely time to panic, it has Capital Spirit searching for the button. (Capital Spirit)
