Brandon Prust called it an accident. Devils coach Pete DeBoer called it "headhunting, plain and simple."

It's probably one of those plays that's going to depend on what color jersey your team is wearing when you form your opinion. It's also one of those plays that might warrant a second look from the NHL and its disciplinary committee.

Early in the second period of the Rangers 3-0 win on Saturday, Prust was caught -- on replay -- giving Devils defenseman Anton Volchenkov what appeared to be an elbow right to the back of the head.

There was no penalty called on the play, and Volchenkov was able to remain in the game.

The two most important things to keep in mind are, again: no penalty called, and no apparent injury to the player on the receivin end of the hit.
