Late in the second period of Sunday's Devils-Flyers game, Philadelphia forward Claude Giroux allowed his emotions to get the best of him.

He was penalized for this hit to the head of Devils forward Dainius Zubrus, earning a two-minute minor for an illegal check to the head. It very easily could have (and perhaps should have) been a five-minute major and a game misconduct.

The question now becomes whether or not the NHL will step in and punish him further.

NBC's Pierre McGuire did his best to hammer home the fact that Giroux did not leave his feet prior to contact (and he didn't), but the bigger issue is that it appeared to not only be a late hit, but one that also targeted the head with clear contact to the head.

Zubrus returned to the Devils bench for the start of the third period.

But will Giroux be suspended? Should he be?
