  • Rangers' Filip Chytil: Unavailable Thursday

Chytil (upper body) will not play Thursday in Calgary, according to Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today. Chytil was expected to skate after morning practice Thursday. Thursday's tilt will be the third game in a row that the 25-year-old will sit out. Chytil has four goals and five assists in 15 games after missing 72 regular-season matchups last year with an upper-body injury. The injury-prone center hopes to return to action Saturday in Edmonton.

  • Rangers' Filip Chytil: Avoids concussion

Chytil (upper body) did not suffer a concussion and will join the Rangers in Calgary, Arthur Staple of The Athletic reports. While Chytil won't be in action versus Vancouver on Tuesday, it seems he could still be in contention to play against the Flames on Thursday. Before suffering his upper-body injury, he was stuck in a six-game goal drought during which he notched two assists, 12 shots and two hits. If Chytil does play Thursday, it will likely mean Jonny Brodzinski is once again relegated to a spot in the press box.

  • Rangers' Filip Chytil: Not on road trip

Chytil (upper body) will not travel with the Rangers to Seattle ahead of Sunday's tilt, Colin Stephenson of Newsday reports. Chytil was injured Thursday when he collided with teammate K'Andre Miller in the middle frame of a 3-2 win over San Jose. Chytil could still join his teammates for their road trip through Western Canada, but that will depend on his evaluation. He has four goals and nine points in 15 games this season. Look for Jonny Brodzinski to center the fourth line in Sunday's contest.

  • Rangers' Filip Chytil: Sustains upper-body injury

Chytil (upper body) won't finish Thursday's game versus the Sharks. Chytil was hurt in a collision with teammate K'Andre Miller in the second period. While Chytil was initially able to stay in the game, he didn't return for the third and was promptly ruled out. Given Chytil missed most of 2023-24 due to an upper-body injury, there will be concern about his health at least until the Rangers provide more details.

  • Rangers' Filip Chytil: Offers assist Tuesday

Chytil notched an assist, two shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Jets. Chytil snapped a three-game slump with the helper. He's up to nine points, 35 shots on net and a plus-11 rating through 14 appearances in a third-line role this season. Chytil's scoring pace has slowed down amid a rough patch for the Rangers' offense, but he should still be a steady depth option at center for fantasy managers in need of points and shots.

  • Rangers' Filip Chytil: Creates power-play helper

Chytil recorded a power-play assist in Friday's 2-1 win over the Senators. Chytil's pass attempt banked in off Alexis Lafreniere at 2:56 of the third period for the Rangers' second goal. The 25-year-old Chytil is on a three-game point streak, earning a goal and two helpers in that span. For the season, the third-line center has four goals, four assists, two power-play points, 25 shots on net and a plus-11 rating over 10 appearances.

  • Rangers' Filip Chytil: Finds twine Tuesday

Chytil scored a goal on four shots and went plus-2 in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Capitals. Chytil was one of four Rangers to come away with a positive plus-minus rating in the contest. The center has five points over his last four games and is looking excellent on a line with Will Cuylle and Kaapo Kakko. Chytil is up to four goals, seven points, 24 shots on net and a plus-11 rating over nine outings this season, and with the Rangers rotating through three scoring lines heavily, ice time isn't too much of a concern.

  • Rangers' Filip Chytil: Pockets assist in win

Chytil notched an assist and four shots on goal in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Ducks. Chytil earned the secondary helper on Will Cuylle's goal at 11:53 of the third period, which stood as the game-winner. Those two forwards, along with Kaapo Kakko, have formed an effective third line for the Rangers early in the season. Chytil has six points, 20 shots on net and a plus-9 rating over eight appearances, matching his point total from 10 regular-season contests in an injury-plagued 2023-24.

  • Rangers' Filip Chytil: Two goals in win

Chytil scored two goals, including one on the power play, and dished an assist in Tuesday's 7-2 win over the Canadiens. He added four shots and one block to his line. Chytil was part of the Rangers' four-goal first period when he drove to the net, got behind the defense and redirected Reilly Smith's pass. He later cleaned up after a scrum in front of Canadiens goalie Cayden Primeau. The third-line center now has three goals and two assists through six outings.

  • Rangers' Filip Chytil: Adds helper in win

Chytil notched an assist in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Red Wings. Chytil has a goal, an assist, eight shots on net and a plus-5 rating over four contests this season. The 25-year-old center is firmly in a third-line role, slotting in behind Mika Zibanejad and Vincent Trocheck down the middle. Chytil's career high in points is 45 from the 2022-23 campaign, and that's a mark he could reach again if he stays healthy this year. For fantasy purposes, his usefulness is limited since he doesn't add much physicality and he plays a deep position.

  • Rangers' Filip Chytil: Finds twine in big win

Chytil scored a goal on five shots and added two PIM in Wednesday's 6-0 win over the Penguins. Chytil got on the board in the second period. While Chytil and the third line didn't have a large impact on the scoresheet, they should provide solid forward depth in 2024-25. Last season, the 25-year-old center was limited to six assists in 10 regular-season games, but he put up 45 points in 74 appearances in 2022-23. He's a virtual lock to center the third line when healthy.

  • Rangers' Filip Chytil: Ready to go

Chytil has no limitations ahead of training camp, Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports Tuesday. Chytil experienced an injury-plagued season in 2023-24 -- he only skated in 10 regular-season contests with the Rangers. The 25-year-old returned during the postseason, but he was held off the scoresheet in six contests. Chytil will likely slot in on the third line while receiving work on the second power-play unit in 2024-25. The left-shot center has amassed 144 points in 337 career regular-season appearances.

  • Rangers' Filip Chytil: Slated to be available for Thursday

Chytil (illness) is slated to be an option for Thursday's Game 6 against Carolina, per Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today on Wednesday. Chytil returned from a head injury last Thursday, but after recording a shot in 12:02 of ice time in that contest, the 24-year-old missed the past two outings due to the illness. He's also been dealing with some soreness unrelated to his previous head injury. Chytil might serve in a bottom-six role versus the Hurricanes, but it's also possible he'll be a healthy scratch.

  • Rangers' Filip Chytil: Unavailable Monday

Chytil (illness) will not play Monday against the Hurricanes, Colin Stephenson of Newsday reports. On top of his illness, Chytil is reportedly also dealing with some soreness that's unrelated to the head injury that cost him nearly the entire 2023-24 campaign. He logged one shot and one hit in 12:02 of ice time during the Game 3 win against Carolina, his first game since Nov. 2. He'll be considered question for Game 6 on Thursday, if necessary.

  • Rangers' Filip Chytil: Won't play in Game 4

Chytil (illness) won't play versus Carolina in Game 4 on Saturday, according to Peter Baugh of The Athletic. Chytil returned from a head injury Thursday, logging a shot and a hit in 12:02 of ice time en route to a 3-2 overtime victory over the Hurricanes. However, he didn't join the Rangers for Saturday's morning skate, which is what first put his status into question. Jonny Brodzinski will draw into the lineup due to Chytil's absence.

  • Rangers' Filip Chytil: Not skating Saturday

Chytil (illness) wasn't present at morning skate Saturday prior to Game 4 in Carolina, Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today reports. Chytil played 12:02 of ice time in Game 3, marking his first appearance since early November as he returned from a head injury. There's a chance the Rangers hold the 24-year-old center out Saturday, which would allow Matt Rempe to slot back into the lineup.

  • Rangers' Filip Chytil: Set to return Thursday

Chytil (head) has been activated off long-term injured reserve and is expected to play in Game 3 against Carolina on Thursday, per Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today. Chytil had six assists in 10 regular-season contests, but he hasn't been in the lineup since Nov. 2 because of the injury. He's projected to serve on the third line alongside Alexander Wennberg and Kaapo Kakko Thursday. Matt Rempe is set to be a healthy scratch for the first time in the 2023-24 postseason.

Chytil (head) will travel to Washington with the team in hopes of playing Friday in Game 3, per Peter Baugh of The Athletic. Chytil only played in 10 games with the big club during the regular season, recording six assists and 22 shots on goal. The 24-year-old has played in 30 career playoff games, logging eight goals and five assists. Another update on his status should surface prior to puck drop versus the Capitals on Friday.

  • Rangers' Filip Chytil: Medically cleared

Chytil (head) skated with the team Friday after being medically cleared, though he remains without a clear recovery timeline, Darren Dreger of TSN reports. At this point, Chytil probably shouldn't be expected to return during the Rangers' last two regular-season contests, but he could be an option in the playoffs. The center has been out of action since Nov. 2 versus the Hurricanes, a stretch of 70 games on injured reserve. If Chytil does get into the lineup, it will likely be in a third-line role.

  • Rangers' Filip Chytil: Done for the year

Chytil (upper body) will not return during the 2023-24 campaign. Chytil appeared to be nearing a return before suffering a setback during Friday's practice session. The team has now ruled him out for the year rather than risking any further setbacks. The 24-year-old tallied six assists in 10 games prior to suffering the injury. As of now, Chytil's status for training camp remains unclear.
