Top Brewers News

  • Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Reaches deal with Brewers

The Brewers and Mitchell (shoulder) avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $950,000 contract Thursday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Mitchell missed most of the 2025 season after requiring a second surgery on his left shoulder, and it's unclear whether he will be ready to go at the start of the 2026 campaign. The outfielder is under team control through 2028 and is likely to compete for a starting job in the outfield when healthy.

  • Brewers' Angel Zerpa: Gets one-year deal from Milwaukee

The Brewers and Zerpa avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.095 million contract Thursday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

Zerpa was acquired via trade from the Royals earlier in the offseason and had been eligible for arbitration for the first time. The lefty held a 4.18 ERA and 1.38 WHIP across 64.2 innings in 2025 and could be stretched out as a starting pitcher in his first spring training with the Brewers.

  • Brewers' Brice Turang: Avoids arbitration with Brewers

The Brewers and Turang avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $4.15 million contract Thursday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Turang had been eligible for salary arbitration for the first time, so he's getting a massive raise. The second baseman slashed .288/.359/.435 with a career-high 18 home runs and 24 stolen bases over 156 regular-season contests for the Brewers this past season.

  • Brewers' Trevor Megill: Settles at $4.7 million

The Brewers and Megill avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $4.7 million contract Thursday, Ari Alexander of 7 News Boston reports.

It's a nice raise for Megill, who was eligible for salary arbitration for the second time. The 32-year-old notched a career-high 30 saves in 2025, collecting a 2.49 ERA and 60:17 K:BB over 47 regular-season innings. Megill should open the 2026 campaign as the Brewers' closer, but Abner Uribe could also be in the mix to save games.

  • Brewers' Andrew Vaughn: Gets $7.65 million from Brewers

The Brewers and Vaughn avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $7.65 million contract Thursday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Vaughn was reinvigorated after a trade to the Brewers last season, slashing .308/.375/.493 with nine homers across 64 regular-season tilts. He will enter the 2026 campaign slated for the bulk of the playing time at first base for Milwaukee.

  • Brewers' Drew Rom: Gets NRI deal from Milwaukee

The Brewers signed Rom (undisclosed) to a minor-league contract Wednesday that includes an invitation to spring training, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Rom missed the entire 2024 season following left shoulder surgery and in 2025 made his last appearance with Triple-A Memphis in the Cardinals organization in June due to an undisclosed injury. It's unclear what his current health is, but the Brewers felt good enough about his status to invite him to spring training. Rom will likely begin the 2026 campaign at Triple-A Nashville.

  • Brewers' Gerson Garabito: Inks NRI deal with Brewers

Garabito signed a minor-league contract with the Brewers on Wednesday that includes an invitation to spring training, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Garabito finished the 2025 season with the Samsung Lions of the Korea Baseball Organization, holding a 2.64 ERA and 84:37 K:BB over 78.1 innings covering 15 starts. The 30-year-old has made 21 appearances (two starts) at the big-league level, producing a 5.77 ERA. Garabito is likely to begin the 2026 season in the rotation at Triple-A Nashville.

  • Brewers' Angel Zerpa: Could work as starter

Brewers GM Matt Arnold said Sunday that the organization is open to utilizing Zerpa as a starting pitcher, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

The left-hander was acquired from the Royals in exchange for Isaac Collins and Nick Mears, and the Brewers apparently view Zerpa as more than a relief option. The 26-year-old came up through the minors as a starter but operated as a reliever the past two years for the Royals, making all but two of his 129 regular-season appearances out of the bullpen. Even if he sticks as a starter and is fully stretched out to begin the season, Zerpa could have a short leash given his limited workload the last few years.

  • Brewers' Angel Zerpa: Shipped to Milwaukee

The Royals traded Zerpa to the Brewers on Saturday in exchange for Isaac Collins and Nick Mears, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Zerpa finished the 2025 season with a 4.18 ERA and 1.38 WHIP across 64.2 innings while also recording 14 holds. The Brewers aren't hurting for high-leverage arms with Trevor Megill, Abner Uribe and Jared Koenig already making up the back end of their bullpen, so Zerpa will likely start out in a middle-relief role with his new club.

  • Brewers' Greg Jones: Invited to Brewers' camp

Jones signed a minor-league contract with the Brewers on Thursday that includes an invitation to spring training, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Jones slashed .145/.254/.258 across 71 plate appearances with the White Sox's Triple-A affiliate before being released by the club in May. He then signed a minor-league deal with the Astros, but an injury forced him to miss most of the remainder of the season. Now with the Brewers, the 27-year-old projects to remain a minor-league depth piece.

  • Brewers' Akil Baddoo: Signs with Brewers

Baddoo signed a one-year contract with the Brewers on Thursday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

Baddoo spent the majority of the 2025 campaign with the Tigers' Triple-A affiliate, where he slashed .281/.385/.481 with 15 homers, 48 RBI, 73 runs scored and 25 steals over 103 games. The 27-year-old outfielder will have a chance to earn a spot on Milwaukee's Opening Day roster during spring training, though it's unlikely he lands a starting job over Isaac Collins, Sal Frelick and Jackson Chourio.

  • Brewers' Jake Bauers: Settles with Brewers

The Brewers and Bauers avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year contract Friday.

Per Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the deal is for $2.7 million. Bauers re-signed with the Brewers on a minor-league deal last offseason before slashing .235/.353/.399 with seven home runs over 85 regular-season contests. The left-handed-hitting Bauers should see semi-regular reps between first base, left field and designated hitter against right-handed pitching in 2026.
